Alternative milk in the news

A story ran on our local evening CBS news last night about people in Europe who are unable to drink cow's or even goat's milk. They have discovered that many people can drink donkey milk. I sat giggling through the whole story since my milk goat is named Donki! We are so trendy!!  lau
It was an unusual sight to see, numerous donkeys hooked up to a milking machine.
They charge roughly $20 a quart for the milk if I understood correctly.  th

Re: Alternative milk in the news

Wow!  How much milk does the average donkey produce, anyways?  Maybe I should get me a few? lol

I don't think it occured to the news peoples that inquiring minds would want to know that particular fact!

Re: Alternative milk in the news

I don't think your donkey would appreciate being milked BB, wasn't he a boy? gig

This reminds me of a "Girls Behaving Badly" episode where they give away free samples of cheese.  After the poor saps took a good bite the bad girls told them it was made from human breast milk.  One bad girl asked if they detected a smokey flavor b/c the woman who supplied the milk smoked three packs a day. lau

Yes, he was a boy. If I got anything out of him I probably wouldn't want to drink it though. sickbyc

I saw that too.  Yes, they said $20 per quart!  They showed a children's hospital in Italy that stocks donkey milk for patients with allergies.  They said nutritionally, it's very close to mother's milk.

They showed the donkey farm, too.  But from what I could tell, it looked like all the donkeys with milkers on were girls wink
