I'm up outside of Olympia and still without power. Thank Heavens I have a husband that fully believes that this will happen every year. The first year we lived here we were without power for over a week. So now we have a wood stove we can cook on, and a generator that can keep things going...
My husband works at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma. The staff there is really good. Also, on of my friends is at Seattle Children's right now with her daughter and has had a very good experiance. I hope and pray she gets well soon. Keep us posted.
I just make my kids do it. They think it's cool. ;) They like to grate cheese to though. I make it seem like it's a big deal and I really don't want them to do it...it's a grown up job. That way when I buy the big blocks of cheese I can get them to grate a whole bunch of it into a container...
He sounds exactly like my FIL. We've recently just moved him up here to make sure he gets enough to eat. He's got the back issues, complicated with post-polio, and a life-time of hard living (as he puts it ;) ). I've known him for eleven years, and he's been in chronic pain for longer than...
We were considering that two bedroom house with four kids! Two kids is nothing. If things get crowded send them outside! That's the whole point of 5 acres. You just downsize everything. It's amazing how little you actually need. The house we were looking at had a large storage room off the...
I used to work as a bank teller and when I got robbed I actually got paid $200 because I did everything right! As in I handed the guy everything in my drawer and pushed the robbery button, informed someone, then fainted. Well, maybe I wasn't supposed to faint. But we were instructed not to be...
I love mine, bought the professional version they sell at costco. The only attachment I've used is the grain grinder, which is a waste in my opinion. But I love the mixer. I grew up with a Bosch mixer too, which my mother still thinks I'm crazy not to have gotten, because you know, she's...
If today's the add to the map day (coolest idea ever!) I'm in Olympia, WA!
Thanks, I know this takes a lot of your time, but it's a really cool idea, and I for one really like it and think it's really helpful for those of us visual people.
It's a good thing I like veggies better than fruit. ;)
Some of the recent cancer research suggests that a lot of cancers that start in your body actually go away naturally. Yay! for good diets that support a good immune system. Now I'm going to make some mushrooms for lunch.
I know you didn't mean it this way, but this sentence came off to me as though you were almost dismissive of this cancer as being not serious. This is the cancer my family gets, and in many cases, eventually dies from. My grandfather had it removed from his body over and over again over a...
Are you looking at this as a long term investment or as an "until you die" property? Because that should also play a factor in your decision. The first one is not a good investment as far as resale as the second, unless it is in a much more sought after area, where there is perhaps potential...
These are the ducks I want. They were on Craigslist a few days ago, but I haven't checked back since. We're not getting ducks this year. :hit If you get some I might be able to buy some babies from you next year. ;) It takes awhile to talk my husband into things sometimes. He thinks one...
Here's what you do. Make the crust with whole grains and lard (I'm very fond of spelt personally), or do an almond crust. Use real butter and thank heaven that corn syrup is not the same as high fructose corn syrup. Eat a lot of pecans while making the pie. Wish your son a happy birthday...
