Thanks for starting this thread, Natalie! I also make 'roll my own' laundry detergent! Also a helpful tip is that the Sodium Carbonate is also easily bought during the summer as it's the same thing as "Ph Increaser" that folks add to their swimming pools! WalMart has it. And for the borax...

I was going to same the same thing about the suggestion of canning/preserving, since there's a thread about that at The Easy Garden. Which btw, could you put a link to TEG at the top of this site like you do for BYC? As a member of all three, it's nice to easily navigate that way.
