Huh. Looks like someone left in a huff. Changed the name of their thread before they left. I don’t know, but it seemed like they were getting nice, friendly advice. Oh well.🤷🏼♀️
I have let a hen set a couple of times. They did ok. Mostly I just take all the eggs and incubate them. For me it depends on if I have a good/safe spot I can let them set on. Which varies year to year according to how I have arranged whatever birds I have.
This year I let one set, and I gave...
If you keep feeling “drawn” to turkey raising, I think you should go for it! Especially if you have a good place to house them.
Turkeys are really cool. Sometimes I like them better than chickens. I have found that most years, hatching and selling the poults is profitable. Even if they don’t...
Ha ha! It was fairly small amounts of everything. Baymule said to use a deep pan, but I think mine is kind of shallow. (But wide) I didn’t think it was all going to fit, but it did.
I meant to post a photo before, but I forgot.
Baymule, I made this for dinner tonight! (Although I must have written it down from somewhere else that you posted it, because you used the words “smokin’ hot” for heating the oil.🤣)
Since you said to put anything you want in it, I used:
Cut up spiral sliced ham I had in the freezer
Onions...
Exactly. They were a very nice Indian family, and I didn’t mind helping them out. But this is not going to be my future business model.
Bay, that’s exactly what he said. He said if I had a plucker he could use, he would be willing to pay to be able to use it. Because exactly like you said...
This past weekend I had a customer who wanted to kill and pluck his purchase on my property before taking them home. (Note to self: in future say no!)
He bought 4 Cayuga drakes and 1 white Chinese gander. I only helped pluck the ducks a little bit. But when they got to the gander, it seemed to...
This is my plan too. I made and froze 6 pie shells on Saturday. So far 3 of them have been turned into pies and frozen. Going to do more today. Then the casserole.
I only saw one wooly bear caterpillar this fall, and it was almost all brown. I think he was lying!
Yes, which I think was a bad move. Why make it so much harder for new people to learn, by having two different genes with the name blue? People were used to lavender for crying out loud!
That might work outdoors. Then plug a radio into it, with the volume turned way up. Probably depends on if you can protect the plug and the radio from rain.
Around here we call it ribeye steak. It is our favorite! I will pay $13/# for it in the store. Ok, that was pre-Covid prices. I’d be lucky to find it for that now.
But we like it better than t-bone or porterhouse. Yes to grilling it, or sear it in a cast iron skillet!
She doesn’t look lavender to me, she looks blue. But, maybe it’s just the photo. If she is a lavender, the lavender gene is known to be linked to what they call the “shredder” gene. So it’s very common for lavender birds to have messed up feathers.
I’ve not heard of the shredder gene showing...
