Need to do that soon....have tons of leaves down right now and I really need to rake up a few tarp loads full for two coops, but after that I usually just haul bags of leaves from the local town to store for winter bedding. I like to keep my leaves on the land if I can.
She is that! :D Had 9 children and a very demanding husband, tons of grandkids and GGKs, gets out and works hard every day still. My folks moved to a raw, overgrown homestead when she was in her late 40s, with 4 kids still at home and started living off grid the hard way....I can't even...
My son wears his bibs for working around here...is wearing them today, in fact... and recently bought a pair of suspenders to wear to work. Old remedies still work. And, yes, we would all like to see pics, CC!
Finished putting the roofing on the new build today....just need to tweak things around the edges, put up eaves, run electric to it, etc.
Mom helped all day long....roofs are her favorite thing to work on and I do believe I have more pics of her working on roofs than any other kind of work...
I'm still pretty tickled with the results of the big push for the party clean up....feels good to walk through the mud room/pantry and the yard without seeing all the clutter. Makes fall that much prettier!
Still doing a staining, painting, cleaning spree of various things while the...
So, it's good business that generates such polls.....and, incidentally, to get to know each other? Or is it to know which advertising to post? Please don't be disconcerted by my questions...I'm just trying to get to KNOW you. ;)
Awful lot of nosy questions on here and BYH....what power source do you use, what animals are you keeping, etc. Not something I'd want to divulge to just anyone in these days and times.
Here's a question: Why do you want to know these things, Project Manager?
For the past few days we've been doing the annual push to declutter work spaces outside and in, clean up the yard and spruce up things, as well as finish many small projects that have been sitting there waiting until we have time...which we rarely do at this time of year.
Annual push comes...
You won't miss it. I haven't had TV for most of my life except a very brief time I took a nursing contract for a couple months in RI. No TV since I was around 10 yrs old and not much of it before then.
Watching it means you chance letting it influence your decisions in life...even the...
Yep! Just like we use deer meat. Usually we cut the loin/backstraps into butterfly steaks and those are floured and fried. The rest of the deer is ground for burger, which I can into jars...renders it incredibly moist and flavorful as it seals in all the flavor and what little fat the deer...
Yep...tumor. FYI, chickens eat eggs mostly a couple of times a year...and this is one of those times, during molt. Egg shells thin as chickens come into and out of laying cycles, so they get damaged easily and this causes the chickens to clean up the nests, which is a good instinct and isn't...
Currently doing garden clean up/out with the help of three sheep and they are doing a fantastic job! Easiest clean out ever. Usually put all that stuff in the coop, so will miss that this year, but I'm glad it's being utilized and put back onto the garden all the same....just a quicker turn...
You can get a better compost rate and completion if you avoid using pine shavings as the bulk of your litter....I started out with pine shavings many moons ago but it didn't take me long to find out they are not optimal for composting. Takes a long time for them to compost and produces a good...
You could skip that whole step of piling it up to compost if you cultivated a composting deep litter in your coop. I never have to clean out the coop completely or put down fresh materials. In fact, I avoid a total clean out, as I use the older material to inoculate the new with all the good...
