New Table Saw - Built A Crosscut Sled

It's AMAZING how much easier it is to use this than the little "Table Saw Miter Gauge" that came with my saw. I can get much better precision and have much greater control. It also feels SO much safer than the flimsy miter gauge. Now... I'm wondering if I should just sell my miter saw? :D

I even did a test of using it for making "dado" cuts and this monstrosity was the result:

New Table Saw - Built A Crosscut Sled

A few months ago I sold my dad's huge metal Delta table saw for $500, then went to Home Depot and got a tiny portable table saw for $200 (with rack and wheels)! I've been looking at a bunch of fun projects and one that caught my eye was a "crosscut sled". I didn't really want to build a big...

Any Experience: Trenchless Sewer Line Repair Re-Piped?

A quick update: I did my 2nd treatment of the root killer foam about a week ago. There's really no way to know if it's working... I mean, maybe after a few years of constant treatment goes by without any problems I could assume it's doing the trick.

Are posters here HAPPIER having few men in SS Forums?

That's a great point! It's often hard to tell, and that may provide some really interesting insight into how we perceive / bias things... especially if our outlook changes once we discover the gender of the person... and if it's different than we expected! :D

We need a new vacuum - Bagged or Bagless ?

"The vacuum isn't working!" the wife said... "Well, there's your problem!" I said! (Hair from 3 beautiful girls, a bunny, and it's hay packed into the hose) I seriously LOVE this vacuum!

    DNS URL Redirect Attack

Over the past day or two the site has been attacked by spammers. They were able to redirect our URL to various spam sites. I've been working tirelessly with the tech team to find the cause and then a solution to the problem. The internet routing of the site's domain name (the DNS) and the URL...

Any Experience: Trenchless Sewer Line Repair Re-Piped?

Hmm... since we just got our sewer line cleaned I'm wondering if I should wait until there is a bit more growth before applying this stuff or just do it now?

Any Experience: Trenchless Sewer Line Repair Re-Piped?

Here's the foaming root killer I'm going to try: http://amzn.to/1OsJgub The reviews are really good and I'm hoping it will keep the roots away. For $20 every 6 - 12 months, it's hopefully going to be a great pro-active fix!

Any Experience: Trenchless Sewer Line Repair Re-Piped?

We have a sycamore that's right by the sewer line, but people say it's probably also the mulberry that's a bit further away, but known to be terrible with aggressive roots.

Any Experience: Trenchless Sewer Line Repair Re-Piped?

Thanks for the great reply! Yes, it's tree roots getting into the sewer line that drains from our house to the main city sewer line. We definitely don't want to cut down the trees, especially since we're not sure exactly which ones might be causing the problem. I think we're going to have to...

Any Experience: Trenchless Sewer Line Repair Re-Piped?

Every year our old terracotta sewer line gets plugged with tree roots and we have to have it rootered out. A huge mess, super inconvenient, and costly. I hear radio ads for trenchless re-piping and was wondering if anybody has had it done? A few years ago I got a bunch of general quotes. They...

Solar Install - Story From Start To Finish

Thanks @Joel_BC !!! I've been very happy with our purchase and now that we're on the "E-6" rate (time-of-use plan) we can sell power to PG&E for high rates during the middle of the day and then buyback power when it's cheaper. We work hard in the house to wait to do laundry, dishwasher, etc...

Cleaning Solar Panels - Will it make much difference?

This was interesting... I was looking at my data on my solar panels and I kept seeing this one panel consistently under-performing compared to the rest. I of course know that different panels have different efficiencies from during manufacturing, but this one had never been a problem before...
