Great update post Joel!!
You made some excellent points and asked some thought-provoking questions!
We do work really hard to maintain a certain tone here on SS. Does that tone discourage some "types" of men? Maybe it encourages others?
Do a lot of men tend to look for a "mostly" male...
A great new feature is in-line partial quoting! Highlight some text and you'll be able to just quote / reply with that bit!
Here's a video that shows how to use a COOL new feature:
New Poll Options
There are a number of new options and controls when you create a new poll:
Polls are no longer limited to one or multiple choices. The creator can now control exactly how many responses a user can select. If they select the maximum amount, the other options will...
We've updated the site to the newest software! There are a lof of changes behind the scenes (better spam and user management and other stuff), but here are some things that y'all will notice:
Online status indicator on messages
Another very common suggestion was to indicate if a user is online...
A quick update: We made it through the 2013 - 2014 Winter just fine. When we fired it back up two months ago (after not using it for about 8 months) it fired up perfectly.
It does seem to be making some odd noises as it starts up and shuts down, but we have no idea if that's just how it's...
@Flying J ... I just wanted to say that I LOVE this thread and all the great pics ans info!!! The pics popped up at the top of the forum index and I'm super glad I clicked!!!
I totally agree! I'd probably say that my experience has been this: Learn how to search Google and Youtube for information and instructional videos!! This is probably the #1 most useful skill. If you can learn how to effectively find info, you can quickly become an expert (or good enough) at...
Thanks for all the great comments everyone!
So far things are still looking good. I'm SUPER happy that my $10 fix is saving me from hundreds and hundreds of $$$!!
Update: I was a little freaked out because after putting everything together I started to see a drip every 20 seconds or so. My initial thought was: Hmm, this is probably about 60 gallons a year... I'll just skip two showers a year and call it even!
I put a measuring cup under it two hours ago...
We have a SUPER old Champion Irrigation 1" Vacuum Breaker / Check Valve on our sprinkler system.
The whole thing is usually covered up and on a whim I decided to take a look and check everything. Well, it was leaking pretty bad... like a drip every second. The ground was completely saturated...
Well, if there was a paint that we could flip a switch to go from black in Winter to white in Summer, then ya, that might work great! Otherwise we'll be in trouble for 1/2 the year. :)
Too funny!
The cover on our canopy got to the point where it was falling apart, so I needed to replace it. I got a tarp at costco and it barely lasted 1 year.
So I jumped on the internet and searched for replacement tops. The prices were high and I thought I'd try to see how much I paid at...
This has been a family tradition since 1973ish?
When I was a kid I was doing this exact same thing with my family using plumbs from the same tree & using the same equipment, including the custom sharpened pit removing tools my dad made!
The pitters aren't anything super fancy, but...
:( Sorry, you shouldn't have gotten any infraction points for that. They should be erased now.
Thanks for reporting the spammers. While there's no way to 100% eliminate them, we catch about 99% of the attempts before they even post... which means tens of thousands of attempts per month!
