There is that vinyl fencing on part of my field and I hate it. It looks nice when you first put it up, but it stretches out. And, if you have one that's really talented and small enough, they can get out under it. And you're right, it is expensive. I know they now carry something similar in...
W/the waterer I want, it doesn't need a pad, and doesn't need electricity. And, it costs about the same as the ones that do. I posted a couple of links to 2 different ones in another thread. If you haven't seen that, I'll have to look for it.
Sorry about that. Another option for water is the automatic waterers that don't use electricity. LF has one, and that's the kind I want. It basically works like a frost free hydrant. Hubby's wondered if he could make one for a lot cheaper than the $400+ that they cost. Even when I get my...
I can't put out a RB. Licorice is fat enough as it is. If I put out a RB, she'd look like a pumpkin w/legs. The past few days, the weather has been so bad I've had to put their hay in hay nets and hang it in the run-in. It would have been buried by the snow on Thursday, and would have blown...
Got to thinking about this thread because of the cold we've been experiencing and the problems so many w/larger animals are having keeping water from freezing.
In the field next to mine is a different type of automatic waterer. The one in my field (if it was working) has a heater in it to...
Try CL for fence posts. Are you going w/T posts, or 4x4s? I prefer the 4x4s. As long as I'm not hitting rocks, it takes me about 10-15 minutes to get a post in the ground and the hole filled back in.
For the heater, I wasn't talking about electric, but the ones that work on wood.
I'm not sure how much snow we've gotten so far because of the wind. I don't even want to take Callie out! And, once the snow stops, it's going to get bitterly cold. I hate these temps.
It's snowing. They're calling for 5-8 inches of the white snot. Then it 's going to get even colder! I think I'm going to be putting out extra hay for the horses over the weekend. They're calling for it to get to -4* one night w/a high in the teens.
For the first time since Christmas, we were above freezing. But, it's going to get even colder over the weekend. And, we're going to get wind and snow. I'm hoping there's not a power outage at the farm. No power means no water for any of the animals. I cannot understand people that live in...
MH, we're on that same line. They're calling for 3-6 inches in Philly, and 4-10 inches closer to the coast. I'm right about at the line.
I've done everything I could to get ready. My problem is I still have to go to the farm to care for my animals. I so want them at home.
We're getting ready for a Nor'easter, so that meant I had a lot to do. I was able to clean my bathroom this morning. Then I went and fed b4 heading to work for 1 1/2 hours. When I got back, since it was the warmest it's been since Christmas, I was able to clean most of my field! There were...
I am NOT looking forward to it. More and more I want my own farm. I don't want to have to go to the farm in those temps, and w/the snow to care for my animals.
