My guess is that you're getting a lot of hard water sediment build up in the faucet, or even the plumbing to it.
We have really hard water - - well to filter to water softener to faucet...and STILL get build up. When we first moved out here, I was stunned at how much mineral deposits were in...
I've been known to do that, too. I get the 'raised eyebrow' look from my husband then.
The petals are mild tasting, it's the green part that's bitter. I've battered and fried the blooms before. Nice! I could eat a platter of those.
Eek - I just saw this when I was looking for a pic to post. They're talking about the ground cherries poisoning your horses:
Ground Cherry is in the same family as deadly nightshade and belladonna. Although it contains many of the same compounds, they are at somewhat lower concentrations...
During WW2, the Brits made a rose hip syrup that was taken daily for Vit C.
I learned this when I watched a documentary, Wartime Farm, on youtube. I was really surprised at how big their rose hips were. Just huge! Around here, they're dinky.
I also have bought some.
I never had any luck with these, but I always tried to transplant some into my garden. Now I can't even find them on my property. I know critters like to eat them.

No. Actually, you can just put them on some paper towel or a dish towel in an out of the way spot in the house and let them dry that way. Unless your place is pretty humid.
I was in a hurry, so after I washed them, I put them in my dehydrator on the lowest setting for a couple of hours, then...
Oh no!
I have a friend who is the best seed hoarder I know. The crazy thing is that this year, her old seeds germinated better than the new ones she bought. Might have been from the different variety of tomato, I don't know. She never puts seed in the freezer, just in a dry place.

This could go right along with the Food is Free project. That's where you put out excess garden produce, fruit and eggs for anyone to take if they need it.
I do realize that most of us will can...
