I canned six quarts of pintos, six quarts of black beans and two quarts of grape juice yesterday. I love having jars of beans. So much easier than cooking them all day.
I read on facebook that you need to use low sugar pectin to get watermelon to gel. I know Certo and Ball instant pectin didn't work. I'm going to get the low sugar Sure Jell and try that. I still have a few watermelons. If they tasted good we could probably eat them fresh but no one likes these...
I like to cut my tomatoes in half, squeeze most the seeds out and blend. Heat up to a boil. After that I pack into jars. Even so there plenty of juice.
Young squirrels are good fried. Not so young ones make good squirrel and dumplings. Squirrel was my youngest daughter's favorite meat years ago and she would run and bring me the shotgun when she saw one. My son snared a young squirrel last year and I showed him how to skin, clean and cut it up...
Well my coop has rats and therefore rat snakes. I do lose eggs but none about to hatch. I killed one snake but decide to let them stay in hopes they get rid of the rats. I even have at least one rat snake in my garage. I threatened the Wildbunches life if they killed anymore snakes. I'm get tire...
@goatgurl I think freezing definitely counts. Something got all my peaches off the trees. Probably those pesky squirrels.

Are you going to save them for livestock food or boil in salt water and dry for human consumption? Actually you probably could just soak in salt water before drying.
Sam I know how you feel about your fur baby. After mine died suddenly I was so grieved. It was quite some time before I got another and it was pushed upon me but I grew to love him too. :hugs
