Everything was white when we got up this morning but it was all gone by lunchtime. All the waterers were frozen so we put the cinderblocks back in place. I have light fixtures in the blocks with a light bulb in them and a piece of cement board other the top to keep any water from dripping in...
I checked the culvert this morning and he has it almost fully blocked again. I pulled a bunch of stuff out and put some chainlink across. I know it wont stop him but it will make it easier for me.
The water is usually only a quarter of the way up the culvert.
This is what I pulled out
Someone asked in a post what breed my sheep were. I dont remember who it was and I'm not sure how to search the threads to find it.
The answer is I'm not sure. Bonnie our female is a cross between a Dorset and some other breed. The farmer we got her from said he couldn't remember. Blake we...
It's the same here once they see me anywhere near the feed shed everyone comes running to their fences I call it the morning stampede chickens, turkeys, sheep and goats.
Everyone has their bellies full now time for me to go get my breakfast and tackle the culvert. Here are some more pics from this morning.
I thought I posted this this morning but I guess better late than never lol.
I have the culvert about half cleared the bugger has it packed in good this...
The pond was caught over this morning when I got up the wind is strong again today and cold. Starting my morning rounds now the turkeys just finished their breakfast.
Well the culvert is half cleared. I will hopefully finish clearing it in the morning. Thankfully it was a beautiful day with little to no wind because the water is cold. The temp today was 0°c / 32°f I managed to stay mostly dry thankfully and luckily I never fell in. I almost did but was...
So the shed is wired and I managed to install a new storm door on the front of our place. With the help of my father in law. The wind was blowing in the back so the front was somewhat sheltered from the wind. While he's here we plan to tackle the culvert in the morning before he goes back home.
The forecast for today called for sun and clouds. They couldn't be more wrong the wind is strong enough to knock u over and its snowing. Good day to wire the barn.
No I'm not looking forward to it. But I have a peice of chain link fence that I will put across it tomorrow after I get it cleared. It wont stop the beavers but will make it easier for me to keep it clear. I'm also thinking of trying the PVC pipe solution in the video that was posted on how to...
I checked the culvert today and the beaver is still there. It's all blocked again and the water in the pond is up almost 2 feet. So I know what I will be doing in the morning. I need to invest in chest waders the water is now above my rubbers and is cold. When I got up this morning all tje...
We had strong winds today the wind coming off the pond was cold its supposed to be the same tomorrow with the addition of drizzle. If it stays like this the snow is not far away.
With the gun laws here in canada we are not allowed to carry handguns on our person. We can have them and need a permit to transport it from your home to the range.
On the homestead I always have a 22, a 303 and 12 gauge ready just in case. We have mink, lynx, coyote/wolf hybrids and now black...
So the goats barn still needs a few finishing touches to be completely done but the turkeys are moved in and dont seen to know what to do with the extra space lol.
Last pic before I came in for the night. What an evening
So the goats new house is just about finished. Just have to inclose the eaves and make a door and it will be weather tight. Then just have to do some wiring for lights and make a few stalls. I have to get the fencing done before they can move in so I'm thinking of moving the turkeys in there...
