Can I see your bread? Post your loaf's photo.

Whoa, pudding? Cool and weird at the same time. :) The Amish Sweet Bread I make is more like the best white bread you've ever tasted. Great, soft texture that holds up well to slicing and sandwich making and just sweet enough to notice.

Can I see your bread? Post your loaf's photo.

Fun thread. I'm lovin' seeing everyone's bread. :) Here's some of mine: Fool Proof Whole Wheat Bread http://howtogrowboys.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/bread-in-an-hour/ Fluffy Biscuits http://howtogrowboys.wordpress.com/2010/09/17/18-rolls-of-toilet-paper-159-and-biscuits/ and Amish Sweet...

    So I want Goats.......

LOL Eggrookie, if it's of any help to you, I've heard from many a sheep owner that sheep are as stupid as posts. Other might disagree. I've never had any experience with them. (side note: goats seem to be on the other end of the scale - crafty little devils) :P

    So I want Goats.......

I'll pipe in. :) My son wanted goats really bad, too. He saved up his money and bought two Toggenburg does - one nice and showy already in milk and one pregnant doe that was more "dairy". He kept them at the 4H ranch. I drove him there every day to feed, water, and milk. We milked only...

    Anyone make their own pasta?

Making homemade pasta is easy peasy as far as homemade delicacies are concerned. *slurp* I buy a bag of Red Mill semolina flour and just use the simple recipe on the back of the package. I mix it up in my kitchen aid so I don't hand knead. I run it through my kitchaid pasta roller/cutter...

We're freezing! What about kerosene heat?

Well, it's been a while since we decided what to do but I said I would report back on it so.... After reading this article - http://www.milesstair.com/kero_heaters.html and these reviews -...

Cheapest way to raise meat to eat

What a fun and useful thread. :) I haven't read through every post because my son wants to use the computer right now but I thought I'd chime in. Our goal this year was to produce all our own meat except for fish and sausage/bacon. We over shot that goal. We have excess. We're on 2 or 2.5...

Share your ideas for Holiday Gifts!

First of all, I'm LOVING this tread - so many uber talented people we have here. :) Second, for those who have ungrateful and/or snobby family members  ....one of my favorite quotes found in a homemade book consisting of songs, poetry, and old Christmas stories hand selected by a...

We're freezing! Part 2 - better water heater?

Thanks, Tanks. I will have my husband call and talk to our propane company. Good idea. :) The landlord thing is complicated. We live on a cattle ranch owned by 6 siblings. The acting landlord, who also lives on the ranch, is very nice and casual but the siblings.... :/ . There is a long...

We're freezing! What about kerosene heat?

No, it does not get this cold in the Silicon Valley. We used to live there before we moved out here. I just haven't updated my personal info. We're about 1 1/2 hours from the SV now. My husband still commutes there every day. Now we live out in the country - in the boon docks of a town...

We're freezing! What about kerosene heat?

:gig My dish soap is like that. I was wondering what in the heck happened to it. But, it's sitting on my window sill and our shampoo is still runny so I'm sure it's not nearly as cold in here as your trailer must have been. Brrrr!!! Thank you for the great ideas! I just remembered...

We're freezing! What about kerosene heat?

I'm sure it's an overall lack of insulation. If the house ever had any upstairs, I'm sure it's disintegrated by now. The upstairs is sweltering hot in summer and ice cold in winter. It is definitely the windows, too. The windows are a really old fashioned type and single paned. There are...

We're freezing! Part 2 - better water heater?

As I said in my "part 1" post... our house is flippin' cold. Our water heater has not worked properly for about 8 months and winter w/freezing water sucks. :barnie We have to go outside to light the pilot light on our broken water heater every time we want hot (warm) water. It's an "on...

We're freezing! What about kerosene heat?

It was 47 degrees downstairs in the "warm" part of the house this morning. Upstairs, where my young family sleeps, was 40 degrees. :( Brrrrrr! My poor kids don't want to get out of bed to get ready for school and I don't blame them. We need a heater! Downstairs, we have one fireplace with...

    Making $$ on persimmons?

Yes, it is extremely cheap. But, I am somewhat isolated here in the boonies of a town most people consider the boonies (the boonies of the boonies ) so I'm happy to offer them at that price instead of giving them to the squirrels for free. :)

    Making $$ on persimmons?

:yuckyuck Okay, so I've decided that since they're from a home orchard and not completely blemish free, AND I want them gone, I'm going to ask 25 cents each. :) Ideas I've come up with for the ones I keep: Persimmon chips (thin, crispy) Dried persimmon (thin, chewy) Dried, diced persimmon...

    Making $$ on persimmons?

We've got a LOAD persimmons in the orchard of the property we're renting (we have use of the orchard). I thought I should sell some because, even if I got really creative, I could only use about 1/5 of them at most. I go to rabbit shows where people sell/take orders for homemade items...

    Stud Servicing Goats

Okay. Thank you. This is what I was looking for - a list of tests that should be done. Heck, if they came to me with good health documentation/tests, I'd let the 4H kids breed to this buck for that and a Slurpee.
