Last night I canned some applesauce, and it turned into an hours long project because of my stupid stove! It normally takes a while for the water to get boiling since the water-bath canner is really big. Last night, however, it took an eternity. I waited and waited and waited, and the water...
Thanks for the b-day wishes everyone!
I have given up smoking too! Boy was that hard! I gained like 20 lbs., but thankfully, I've been able to work it back off. That's the good thing about getting into being more SS. More homemade food that's better for you and takes more work to prepare!
California poppy root (not to be confused with the opium poppy) is a gentle pain reliever. If you can't grow it yourself, you can find it online. For the inflammation, I would try ginger or any other spicy herb. You can just include more of them in your regular cooking.
Aside from the herbs...
Okay, this happened to my enamel coated pot when I was cooking my apples for applesauce this weekend. :somad I don't want to use steel wool or anything, because I'm worried it will scratch the enamel. I soaked it all day, the burnt on apple didn't budge. I tried boiling water in it, no good...
Thank you for the birthday wishes! :hugs They really made me smile. :)
I know I'm not that old. It's just weird being in my 30s now. Someone told me that you're in the "prime of your life" in your 30s, so I guess I better start living like it!
Funny birthday quote:
My sourdough is done, and now I've moved on to fermented pickles. I've never tried this before, so it will be interesting to taste the difference between fermented and canned pickles.
Well, I didn't quite get around to making my shampoo bar this weekend *sighs* Oh well, maybe next weekend.
Today is my birthday! :ya I'm 31 today, so I'm officially into my 30's.
Well, over the weekend, I cooked two huge bags of apples and sauced them. The sauce is sitting in a...
We don't have rain gutters either. We have just strategically placed our barrels around the house where the most of the water runs off. I wish there were a way to keep collecting and storing water during the winter here though. We use it to water our chickens, but everything freezes solid...
I am fermenting some sourdough starter today. I had to decide if I wanted to try the potato starter, or the sourdough starter first, and I went with the sourdough starter cuz it seemed easier.
That sucks. :hugs I went through a similar situation with my father-in-law spanking my son. It caused some tension between my husband and me. I don't think it should be about "breaking" a childs will, rather "shaping" a child's will.
Thanks Farmfresh, I will have to try that! Using a liquid shampoo sounds more appealing than using a bar. Maybe I could make the shampoo bars and then prepare your recipe using them. Adding the rosemary infusion is a great idea, I have long, wavy (sometimes freaky curly and frizzy), dark...
Thanks for thinking of me guys. :) I found a quote that I like the other day that helps me when I think of it... "Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."
There is another chance of frost again tomorrow night, so I think that I will just cut...
