What did you do to save $ today?

Stopped at a new store to me, and picked up a pound of stew meat for $2.25. Wouldn't have gone anywhere, except that I had to go the bank, so I could pay my car insurance. I only had to go about 8 miles each way, so a close travel day for me. Need to make some bread still though.

What did you do to save $ today?

Found 6 lbs of sausage at .50c/lb. Great for spaghetti sauce, chili, or breakfast. Talked with a local butcher that lives near my fiance, and was very happy with his prices. I will definately be going to see him when I have some extra cash. He also does custom slaughter, so I know who to call...

What did you do to save $ today?

I will give this post a bump. Found 6 lbs of sausage for .99 a lb in the rancid meat pile at the store tonight. It is very lean, and goes great in spaghetti sauce, or chili, and cheaper than ground beef to boot. Need to make another batch of laundry soap tomorrow. Trying to get the fiance to...

What did you do to save $ today?

Found another pair of my favorite jeans for 6.50 at a thrift store. Will go back tomorrow for a pair of work boots, and a nice jacket that I should have bought. They will set me back maybe 15.00, but save me way more than that. Should have bought them today. Also picked up 2 oil lamps for under...

    Stock up alert!

I always have to check the "rancid meat pile," as my brother calls it, but only at select stores. I will not buy meat from wally world, or most places. I usually only buy from 2 stores, where I know they really do cut it in the store. Gotta love the rancid meat pile.

    Stock up alert!

Had a date last night, cooked dinner at home. She was impressed. Scored an almost new pair of slip on shoes at a thrift store for $4.50. The girls are laying, so the free eggs are great. Have given some away as gifts, and been thinking about selling some to help pay for the feed. The potatoes...

What did you do to save $ today?

Spent a little, but saved a lot. Found another nearly pair of jeans in my size at a thrift store for 5 bucks. It is a never ending battle for a scrawny guy to find decent, used jeans in my size. Feeling pretty good though, 2 pairs in less than a week for under 8 bucks. Going to try and get some...

What did you do to save $ today?

Thanks for the info on the whole corn, Freemotion. I am hoping to feed them for free. I got the rest of the wheat hauled home late last night. I would guess that there is at least 1000 lbs. I have another place to go check when I have some daylight. My 3 1/2 hour round trip commute right now...

What did you do to save $ today?

Stayed home. Didn't spend any money on gas to go anywhere. Talked to the farmer neighbor, and was told I could pick up the wheat that was on the ground from where they filled the semis while they were combining. I filled 2 garbage cans, and only got a small part of what was there. Just have to...

What did you do to save $ today?

Hit a couple of thrift stores. Actually found a pair of jeans in my size for $3.25 that are in great shape. Found a real waffle iron for $2.75. and a bread machine to make dough for $4.00. 2 paper back books for $1.25. I thought I did pretty good. Wish I could have bought some canning jars at...

Where do you buy GOOD clothespins?

Made the desperation move of shopping at Wallyworld. What is a good source for a good spring type clothespin? Cant even make a decent pea shooter out of what I bought. Dumb I know, but going to work nekkid was not an option.

    Anyone hand wash their clothes?

Haven't posted in quite some time, but I do run my washer out in the yard, since it leaks too much to put it in the house. Hand washing no, unless I had to have clean socks. Everything else could rot off of my body, but I have to have clean socks. Been hanging stuff to dry on my makeshift...

Just picked up a quart of local, raw honey

Would have bought a gallon, but only had enough in my pocket for a quart. Will be back for a gallon, or more a soon as I get back on my feet. Just found a great source for locallay raised beef, til I can get my own out on the pasture. Don't mind paying a bit more, if I know where it is coming from.

    Aple cider vinegar

Tried some of the Braggs. Like it in a glass of water. Can't stand to drink straight water so that helps me from cracking the top on another can or bottle sometimes. Heard about using it to treat the runs. Anyone know what the method for that is? I did pick up a gallon at one of the local...

Just picked up a quart of local, raw honey

Can't wait to try it. Hoping it will help with the allergies that seem to be showing up as I get older. Going to get the G/F to try it as a cough syrup. It sure is a nice amber color. Think I hear it calling my name.

Ditching cable/Sat TV - going OTA

Havent had sattelite tv for over 8 years. Don't miss it much, except for the music channels. I did find Pandora for music though. We do use hulu. I am not much of a movie watcher. G/F will always have a movie playing for the background noise. I will take my music. I don't even get OTA tv, since...

jam ? what to do with all the extra...

For thumbprint cookies, it has to be Raspberry jam, in my opinoin. Same goes for a jelly roll. Love toast and jam. Have one dog that I have to share my taost and jam with. Nice thing about a PB & J sandwich at work is that if someone brings lunch in, or offers to buy, you can usually still eat...
