I have a small cabinet shop/ woodwork shop. Mainly build cabinets, and do trim work, with an occasional piece of furniture thrown in the mix. Have tools, will travel.
Thanks for the responses so far. I will have to think about the journal thing. Seems like that would be one more thing to do. Have big plans for this spring. Haven't had a garden for several years, but it is very high on the list of things to do this year. Have some laying hens, but would like...
Going to try to participate more. I have always been into the self sufficient life style. Ex wife thought I was nuts, till she took most of my stockpile. Gf thinks I am a bit strange at times, but she is willing to put up with my ideas. I think she is starting to see my way of thinking. The 125...
I have never heard of them, but I have no desire to even look to see what they have to say, or are offering on their website. Seems to me that I have heard the term "urban homstead" for many years. Hope they have lots of time and money to send letters to people that have been using that term for...
Wood dust maker, because thats usually what I end up making out in my shop. Cut big boards into little boards, glue little boards into big boards. No way to win some days.
Thanks for all of the replies. Been very busy lately. I would definatelt have a hot, and cold line. Living in the desert like I do, that would have to be a must. I was just wondering how many others enjoyed the peace, and comfort of an outdoor shower.
Expenses are minimal. I stay in my paid for camp trailer, that is towed by my paid for pickup. Power and water are paid for also. I love the house that I am hoping to have paid off some day. I hope that being gone is not permanant. I have been doing it for over a year now, and am getting tired...
I cook from scratch, haircut once or twice a year when it gets too hot, don't eat out hardly at all, shop the sales. Eat beans or spuds if thats all there is, wear my clothes till they are threads. Try not to make unessecary trips into town when I am home. Use a swamp cooler when I am home, heat...
Looking for some ideas. The only things I can think of are to raise my own meat, and get a garden in, both of wich are hard to do when I am away from so much. I am only home for maybe 6 to 7 nights a month. It is not looking any better anytime soon. Just wondering who may have some ideas. Thanks.
If so what do you shop for? Spices, some canned goods here. Gladware type things, storage bags, cheap measuring cups, things like that. Just wondering what others may buy at these types of places..
Anyoneony have one? There is one where I am working. Thinking of putting one in at the house, using solar heat for the hot water. Anyone have any great ideas for one?
I mainly heat with a pellet stove, on a battery back up, for when the power goes out. If I had to, I could go back to the old wood stove, but the pellets work really for me.
My everyday boots are the Justin workboots. Been wearing them for years now. Low heel, non marking sole. I would love to try a pair of the slip on ones, but they would be speciel order. I tried some Ariat boots on, and did not like them. The Justins do not seem to need much breaking in. For...
I hope to learn, and share what I have learned. Looks like there is a fair amount of traffic here, so hopefully we can all help each other survive in this crazy world.
