Lazy day here. I'm cooking some things, oven on -- cool day in 60s -- so I threw a small spaghetti squash in there. Never tried any before. A friend gave me 2 this week. They're a small variety, like a one serving size 😁 i'll see how they taste.
I know the pan of cabbage & potatoes will...
Working today. Heading out to give meds to those 2 bucklings -- prob release first of week. Cleaned & refilled water tubs just before dark yesterday. We're in a light drought, NO rain since 10/1. Feeding hay each day to supplement the lessened grass. They get to browse some previously...
Still watching my volunteer, chicken planted 😄, tomato plants grow & bloom. Have fruit set. Weather has been warm & they're growing well. I have both slicers & cherry type. Fun to see, mature fruits questionable on slicers with time needed.🤷
Wow. Sounds good. Any idea of cost & availability? This is first I've heard of it. But Australia is pretty on top of animal health.
ETA....ok, WOWSER on $$$. But worth not losing animals. However, $1 per day, per animal (30 head) is $900 a month. Most effectively, treat just as spring...
Those preggers have cravings  fresh grass addicts. 38 of them here...about the size of your herd. We're nutso. All our resources goes to feed. I'm already thinking -- WHAT am I going to do when 60 kids get here??? That's a LOT of babes.
I'm thinking chicken parm...eggplant Parm.....and so I'll do a pan with both in it! Everything here between freezer & pantry 😁 oven will add some heat to house. Perfect. Italian yumminess.
I do all type grow, preserve, etc. THEN have to use it. It's put away in a pantry, a cold room, and I tend to "stay" in the save mode. Put it away "in case" thinking.😁
To make myself eat from the pantry & freezer, I impose a "do not buy" winter on myself. Make it, use it, eat...
Daylight cometh. 😁 both goats & DS better after meds. Few more days of doctoring.
Warming for a couple days. The last hoorah of late summer. Then flannel lined jeans & jackets will be my BFFs. I hate cold. Been getting up to a chilly house, not liking it. Need to get the room heater...
@porch great job on garden! Inspiring.
I might get the last container of garlic planted today. Plan to mow the big garden area...grass needs a little more dry time. 😕 Need to take a package to USPS so, do that now, while waiting.
Chores done. 2 sickly buckings medicated & penned...
In defense of our over bought, over saved seed stashes, remember that weather disasters that have destroyed so much have also ruined many seed farms. Expect already high prices to climb, some limited supplies, and treasure our home seed banks.
That makes ME feel vindicated  :lol...
Chores, coffee, dishwasher running, load of laundry going....in that order. 😁
Enjoying a second cup, looking at list. Still pretty wet out from heavy dew. Chilly in low 40s. Need it to dry before some things can happen. Plenty inside until then. May make a quick run for feed🤔
BUT -- it's what those "city folk" need to read -- most importantly, understand! Insurance training teaches a horse is an "attractive nuisance" for their purposes.
Stepping in chicken poop can make you slip & fall, goats jump up in play, yeah stuff happens that we laugh off -- they, sue. 😑...
I have a bell that's black skinned but, still green inside. That's freaky the first one you cut. 😁 It tastes like a traditional green.
The red, yellow & orange are definitely sweeter...nice in some salads, when you want a milder taste. They're pretty, too. I make a good red pepper jelly. 😌
Well, I'm not at that stage but, close :old
Unless -- we also count bags of forage & ground covers. I actually have walked fields & cut seed head to save. OR, the stored to cook beans, lentils, etc. yeah I'm there.....insane. maybe we could ALL try to plant them out in 2025 😱 wouldn't...
Seeds. I'm addicted 🥴 And seed porn isn't even out yet. Like every Fall/Winter, I promise myself to do better -- plant as many of these possessed packages of seed as you can!! Really??? Like I'd need an acre just for beans. Corn (s) yes, every color & kind. I love the thought of growing...
