Sending healing thoughts to your mother :hugs
Good luck selling! I am terrible at it and probably could never do a flea market type thing. I only do the Christmas craft fair at our workplace with my soap.
Question for you frugal soapers out there- what do you use for your cheap "filler" type of oil. I use canola oil to take up some space, and I'm wondering if there are any other cheap oils that might make the soap harder (I think canola softens the final bar) to fill in the recipe. I use olive...
Sounds like you did OK! I hate being distracted while I am soaping- one time I tried to make a batch with my in-laws visiting. I forgot to add half the oils. It took me days to figure out why it wasn't setting up correctly.
OK, one day a year I go crazy with fair food. :drool It is one of my reasons to go to The Big E in Springfield, Mass. Well, that and the animals- it was llama day and they had a really cute trail class demo for llamas. A 3-step stairs up then down, a ramp, a hay bale corridor to walk into then...
Hay up here is going to be really spotty this year because of all the field damage from Irene. Our hay guy isn't going to get another cutting off his big field. Well, he has to cut it, but he can't sell it. A huge financial hit since it will still cost him to mow it. Luckily the horses get...
Sounds like a great idea- We have tried gluten free cooking for my BIL when they come visit, and it is not easy to get things with the right textures.
Good luck with the move!
Unfortunately this comes under the heading of "if you don't want our smart meter, then you don't get our electricity". There are few choices for electricity unless you are clever and single like Sunsaver and can run your house off the grid. :(
Good to hear from you! Glad your garden has done well enough to put up beans and squash. We put in crookneck squash for the first time this year and got some, but SO won't eat them because she says they are gourds and not really squash. How do you cook your crookneck? Like a summer...
Oooh, I like that site :D
It sounds like she keeps her starter like a sourdough. Take out what you need and add back in potato for new food to whats left and let it keep growing. I love potato bread. :drool
I can't figure out how to find a drop point near me without calling them from the website. Probably isn't one in VT anyway. I would love to browse and see what they have, but it seems that the website isn't really set up for that- they want you to call them. :/
Anyone ordered wheat or grains...
I was also going to say potassium hydroxide instead of sodium hydroxide, but I have never tried it. I don't know how liquid it will make the soap, though. Maybe discounting the water would work, but it would be an experiment.
I would love to be able to justify spending the money on a nice velvet or tapestry upholstery fabric- they are so luxurious. I have wistfully priced them. I don't think they ever go on clearance. I stick with clearance polar fleece- good deals on that this past summer when they were clearing out...
Love the riding pics! He looks so happy and not intimidated by riding a big horse. (the forward leg in the second picture jumped out at me, too. I know it is just a moment in time- his position looks fine in the other pictures!)
