That was my first thought when I saw the ad. Who would pay more for air? I guess it depends on marketing and gullible people who have to have the latest thing. :idunno
We have a door to the outside in our "sunroom" that has had to be trimmed so drastically (because the whole room flexes with the weather) that it has gaps in it. The wind literally goes through the door. I put up a cheap curtain rod and bought a lenghth of polar fleece on sale and hung it over...
I'm still figuring this out, too, but when I decant the kombucha into bottles, I add a little bit more sugar (especially if it is too vinegar-y) and sliced ginger root and a dash of lemon juice and then cap it tightly so the fizz can't escape and let it sit at room temp for another 2 or 3 days...
Colowyo- I did that with my daughter when she was a teen- she was either furious or didn't even miss the stuff I bagged up, depending on what it was. It never did motivate her to actually clean up her room.
Wow, there are a lot of things listed on this thread that I already do- it makes...
Just signed up! I made a patchouli batch this week to start curing. I am aiming for a batch every week from now until who knows when. Our Christmas fair sign up at work just came out...
Oh, me! me! I want to be on the list! I am starting again after taking the humid summer off because the soap just doesn't cure.
Savingdogs- my chocolate colored soaps are my favorite! I do Dragon Blood scent and all the ones with vanilla in them turn chocolate! They smell wonderful. :D
Yes, it does have a very low amount of alcohol in it. I didn't think of that since the kombucha I buy in the store says it in very very small letters on a crowded label. But it makes sense that anything fermented would have some in it.
Thank you, Nifty, for all the work you do keeping this place organized! I don't have any real ideas- I subscribe to the topics I am most interested in, and I copy recipes and ideas that I like to my computer in Word.
Sorry to hear about your girl :( But it is good that she didn't go through the winter in marginal shape. It is hard to bury an animal when the frost line is 4 feet down!
Oh, sorry to hear about your old hen! We still have 5 left from our original group who are 6 and 7 years old. We are losing them one by one to old age and it is sad. We are burying them out by our roosters in the sugar maples.
Wow- what a story, Lori. I can't believe that someone wouldn't value things like that that meant so much to a family member. It is a beautiful quilt, too!
I don't think I've ever seen that pattern, Becca- very neat. Did you do it in strips?
Chocolate chip cookies and milk sound like a solution to me!
I also have started adding vinegar to the wash- in the bleach cup and in the rinse cup. It also helps keep the washer cleaner (I have a front loader and the hard water seems to clog the dishes that you add det/bleach/softener in and...
It may be aimed at the big feedlot guys, but it applies to everyone. And it is easier to close a little farm than a big feedlot. Like in the auto body business. The little shops had to close, but you don't see any shortages of Maaco shops.
