:lau I love this thread....
My pet peeve is similar to yours..."and everything else." I find that it usually used to amplify the preceeding phrase, usually something the person speaking is angry about. For instance, "He charged me $10.00, forgot to give me my receipt, and everything else". I've...
Idea: If the eggs are large enough, you can blow out the yolk and white and make Ukranian Easter Eggs out of them. It's a beautiful, albeit time consuming art. Or sell them to someone who does.
I met another lady in So Cal and she blew out the eggs and then filled them with confetti. Her church...
I finally got around to making this sauce tonight. Wanted to wait to get fresh jalapenos from the local Farmer's Market. Bought the tomatillos at Safeway - not a great selection at all, half of them were over ripe.
I put in 2 jalapenos instead of one, but the sauce is still mild. I don't think...
Didn't get everything done but much more productive than Monday :)
Wednesday's list:
1) Take DH to MD appointment.
2) Pick up CSA groceries.
3) Attend a canning/food preservation class.
4) Take a few more boxes upstairs.
5) Send my sponsored child a letter.
I'm joining in - maybe I'll be more productive tomorrow if I have a list and am accountable to someone other than my DH :P
For 9/20/11
1) Move remaining unpacked boxes from living room to spare room upstairs. If we haven't needed anything in those boxes after a month, into storage they go...
That's a good nickname too, and very accurate. It's a shame because everything I've ever read about Sam Walton tells me he'd be rollin over in his grave if he knew what his store has become. :(
:frow Hi All:
I keep finding interesting things in our new (old) log home. Today it was 3 bars of Don Maximo bar soap. The print is in Spanish. On the back of the label it shows a hand rubbing a shirt with a bar of this stuff.
Has anyone ever heard of this stuff or used it? I can't tell you...
YAY!!! :weee The giant breeds are prone to bloat and "twisted gut" as I'm sure you know. My English Mastiff's sister died from this after eating a rawhide bone :hit
I have a Saint too, so I was really worried....they are such a wonderful breed. Except my boy was bad yesterday. He has taken to...
My DH is going to flip out over this recipe - we usually cheat and buy the canned kind at the market. I'll be picking the fresh ingredients up TODAY!
Will let you know what he thinks... :)
:) Thanks for the link! I live in Northern Idaho and have forest/meadow on my property so I should have some of this plant. When I walk through the woods I always wear long sleeves/jeans and boots so I probably wouldn't have had it touch my skin. When you make your stock, are you using it fresh...
Does anyone have a recipe to make pasta like Dreamfields - pasta with a low glycemic index for diabetics and anyone else watching their carbs? Their pasta is terrific, but some of the other ingredients on the label...sulfate. potassium chloride don't sound like anything I want to eat :/
I've had mixed results reheating split pea soup. I like my pea soup thick, and cook it that way. But when I defrost and reheat my frozen pea soup it comes out kind of watery. I usually had some cornstarch thickener, but then it gets to thick. :hu
I wonder if there's something I can do prior to...
I vote for the second pic from AL for this Sundays POW. Beautiful photography and a timely photo to post. AND the dark clouds behind the flag literally and figuratively link it to our "Emergency Preparedness" forum IMO. :thumbsup
:yuckyuck
I have a ton of rotten Birch on our property. It would have to be moved to the garden area, not sure how to move big rotten logs. I could build one right where the logs sit, but what about wiring underneath to prevent gophers etc from digging through? This still needs to be done, right?
