I'm updating this thread because my neighbor offered me the empty Cat's Pride Natural Unscented Scoop Litter containers she buys for her kitties. They're the 20-pound containers with nice screw-top lids and absolutely could be recycled using all the wonderful ideas presented here. I plan to...
Good points! We're blessed here to have no poisonous snakes or spiders, but the IDEA gives me the willies.
If we do this kind of setup, it will have to be without a pallet floor. Maybe gravel and shower shoes.
Baymule, I've always wondered about housing construction alternatives in tornado areas -- do you know of anyone who has a bermed or even partially underground residence?
I'd never been in a tornado before I was sent to Kansas City in July one year long ago to start training for a new job, and...
Now that's interesting! Even in my backpacking days, I was religious about filtering all water sources on the trail, even though I drank from our freshwater spring on the farm without giving it a second thought.
Nowadays, the risk is just too great -- better safe than sorry with giardia or some...
We put hay bales around it to try straw bale gardening so didn't notice any heat loss, but you make a good point. Maybe contact Ana White at the website and ask her about it?
And yes, our carpenter friend added vents for cross ventilation. It's usually so mild here, I end up opening the door a...
Yes, we used it as a season extender last year and got respectable yields (what was left after the critters had their way with us, lol). I putter around in there with my houseplants, too.
As I understand it, PVC comes in furniture grade (heavier use) and regular (lighter use). So I'll probably go with the furniture grade for peace of mind.
Well, we've cleared the area next to the barn, taken measurements for the truck that will bring it to us, and have started negotiating with a local cargo container supplier to rent one -- with luck, we can talk them into applying rental payments to the purchase price, if we decide we love it...
Thank you but it took no talent on my part -- just friendliness. Most people respond to a friendly approach, especially ones like this man, who must have been troubled by memories of his departed parents as he started the process of getting rid of all their things. Luckily, his job transfer...
TwoCrows, those are adorable! You are very talented.
I tried stuffed animals for awhile when exploring different crochet techniques but always got so frustrated when trying to cram polyfill into all the crevices evenly. This one caused me to learn some new four-letter words but the happiness on...
I was intrigued by these ideas, since we have one of those old satellite dishes in the shed, and never underestimate the creativity Google Images comes up with...
I'm always interested to see crocheting in other countries and that is very clever! Not only are the women keeping plastic trash out of the landfill, they are also crafting sturdy, functional items that will last a long time.
As a crocheter, I would have gone broke a long time ago buying yarn...
Chic, if we decided to try this design and live in an area where average winter temps hover around the freezing mark (no hard freezes), could you give me some advice as to how we might insulate that assembly? Thanks.
Just for grins, here's some of the projects I'll be tackling this year:
TAXIDERMY
SQUARE BLANKET
LED LIGHT COIL RUG
POTHOLDERS
When I get bored with one project, I set it aside and pick up another. With enough to-do's in the pipeline, I should stay busy for awhile!
