I thought icu said he planted bushes....??? See, shows what I know about hazelnuts! :P
Raw berries around here are ridiculously expensive (IMO)...I do have tons of blackberry bushes, so will try to do jam next year. But strawberries are my all-time favorite; really disppointed I didn't get any...
Well, I got a total of 5 strawberries before all the birds got 'em, so jam is out, at least for this year. :(
I do really want to grow some nut trees, but maybe peanuts are a better bet. I think icu4dzs has hazelnuts, maybe I need to check into that too... :caf
This is scary...DH is a coffee-aholic & drinks a couple pots every day. Can't imagine the withdrawal he's going to go thru if he has to cut back much... :(
I suppose this is a "good news/bad news" story....a Great Depression WILL happen, but we have a couple years to get ready for it. :/
Well, I bought a dozen jars of PB this week, so I guess I'm all set for a couple of months!
I'm sorry for your loss, SD. My stomach always churns when I read about a forum member's losses. So far my two deaths have been to "natural causes" not predators. That's a little easier to deal with, IMHO. If one were killed I would feel completely responsible because I didn't adequately protect...
x10!! Thanks so much, THEFAN. GB said to watch that episode if it's the only one you watch all year...I've been procrastinating getting GBTV, so THANK YOU!!
Stu & Pat were recommending getting a Roko (sp?)...it's some kind of device you can hook up to your TV & watch things that are otherwise...
And not all credit unions are created equal, so shop around...
The CU I was in in VT only required a $5 balance, while the CU here in NC requires $25 plus deducts $1 every month for some kind of fee. Still a better deal than most banks, tho.
Luckily I quit smoking as a kid (literally) & DH quit after he had a stroke. However, I understand what you are going thru, as an outside observer. BIL, SIL, & their daughter all smoke (daughter lives with them). Whenever one of them wants to quit (usually my SIL), the others don't & the quitter...
Well, seeing as I had 14 pet white mice that I rescued from a lab once, they don't scare me much. Water dripping from the ceiling...that's another story. :hide
Sorry Moolie, I sure didn't mean to give the impression that any of this has to do with terrorism (in the Jihadist context, anyway). I'm nowhere near an international border, & rarely fly, so none of that affects me personally. And I can guarantee that when my family gets together, al-quaeda is...
Dang, Mark, where do you find these things?? Pessimists R Us??
Better get to the store tomorrow...my dogs go thru a jar a week (bedtime snack: frozen PB in a kong).
I agree, Mark. It's not terrorism from outside sources that scares me much, it's the terrorists within. "I have met the enemy and he is us."
And it scares me how unprepared most people are for what's coming down the pike.
The lack of personal responsibility in our culture is SO dispiriting. Everything bad that happens to you must be someone else's fault. You know, sometimes we don't get what we want due to our own personal decisions; other times, "sh*t happens." But to go into a place of business & shoot 8 people...
I may be wrong about this, but you may be the first buffalo farmer we've had on the forum. ;)
Do you eat what you grow/raise, or do you mostly sell it?
