Wednesday:
-- try real real hard to remember that the farrier is coming to trim the horses this afternoon. SO FAR, SO GOOD
-- stop waffling about whether to tackle painting the textured ceiling this week -- either conclusively decide not to, or go to paint store and get necessary stuff and...
I am a diehard Mister Rogers fan; and a station that we get shows (strangely) a single episode every Friday afternoon, so my kids have become fans too :) Hm, I should see if there is any DVD availability, that'd be a good Christmas present for my younger son.
Of current-production tv...
But do you really think that "electric bills not going up a lot" was ever one of the OPTIONS?? I sure don't. We were all born in (albeit at slightly different moments in) a probably never-to-be-repeated "bubble" of super cheap energy prices, oil/gas/electric/whatever. I do not see any...
Dye is usually made from the husks of the nuts. THey stain your hands etc too. Since the shavings don't, I kind of doubt you could make dye out of them? But I dunno.

BTW, my 4 yr old FINALLY reminded me to buy cocoa when I was actually *in* the grocery store as opposed to driving home from it afterwards :P so I am sitting here eating a chocolate-raspberry concoction that is REALLY REALLY GOOD.
I did however have to add about as much sugar as cocoa, or...
Potentially lethal (via laminitis) for horses.
Questionable for any other livestock either, I sure wouldn't use it for animals myself.
(e.t.a. -- the juglones that walnut roots secrete, weakening or killing most other plants, are present in substantial quantities in the sawdust too...
It's fun looking over other peoples' shoulders and seeing what they do with their days :)
I've been a miserable failure today, myself, but the weather just hasn't cooperated (that's my story and I'm sticking to it). Although I did get my pruning ya-yas out, big-time, without doing anything I...
Give it to someone who wants to sawdust-mulch an area so that nothing will grow there (pathways, around swingset, etc)? :P
Dunno otherwise... that's a toughie!
Good luck, have fun,
Pat
Exactly! :)
Mine have gotten EVER so much better about playing peaceably and resolving disputes in the past year or so since I instituted a policy of "if I hear you arguing about that toy/game/activity ONE MORE TIME then I am just taking it away and putting it in the closet til another day when...
By far, hands-down, the best "alternative fuel" is radically reduced USAGE.
Yet somehow that is often disregarded a priori, as if obviously we *have* to keep using energy at approximately-current levels (and growing). (Disregarded both in this sort of discussion here and elsewhere, and on a...
WZ, in all seriousness here, we can all read the thread. You were replying to Abi and referring to those who asked for cleaner energy sources. Not "unicorn farts".
You called those who have advocated for a shift away from dirtier-but-cheaper-and-already-extant coal-fired plants "stupid" and...
Excuse me, would it please be possible to remember that there is a diversity of opinions on this forum and that just cuz someone has a different opinion than yours does not make it all fine and dandy to call them nasty names.

Well it's a good thing I never got around to posting a list for my weekend, b/c I didn't get a heckuva lot done around here (rain, helping someone shear the sheep, taking dog to agility trial as spectator, watching a coupla hours taped off tv last week, etc). I did get a few flagstone steps laid...
Friday list:
-- finish hilling up rest of potatoes DONE
-- take son to early years, remembering to pack lunch DONE
-- drive out to dog-training place with son afterwards to watch a bit of the agility trial that is on today, and stuff food into son to extend his patience :P DONE, amazingly...
It just really depends. For one thing, in most climates you *can't* graze year-round, either because of winter or because of summer shutdown of pasture growth, or both.
And then, for whatever climate you're in, it depends a whole lot on how much land you have. If you have enough land, it's...
Several things mixing together here.
First, plenty of horses eat nothing but alfalfa hay and some ration balancer all their lives and do fine. The main issue is that alfalfa is unnecessarily expensive as horse hay in some places, also it's calcium-phosphorus ratio needs to be corrected for...
Perhaps this is too much "lateral thinking" to address your needs, I don't know... but does it NEED to actually be a long tensioned clothesline, or would shorter "saggy bits" of clothesline *suspended from the underside of the roof overhang* do the job?
Simplest thing would be to take your...
FWIW, I'm sort of vaguely hoping this summer once school's out to ask each kid for a couple of topics they'd like to learn more about or do more of, and then spend maybe a week on each one just seeing what activities we can think of to explore that.
Am pretty sure that the 4 year old's list...
