There are weight tapes you can use to get an estimate - a measuring tape of sorts. I think they are made for standard breeds, so they aren't useful for minis. But I think it would work for a full size alpine.
OH! lookie here! http://fiascofarm.com/goats/weight-chart.htm - again not for minis :/
Did you just say 'fall gardens'? :ep Noooooooooooooo! not possible that it's that time already :D
I don't think there are any weeds my goats won't eat, except for maybe pigweed. In fact, they cleaned out all the weeds they could get to from their pen and somehow reached my pole beans which are...
Mine have gone down by about half too, but they did that as soon as the temps shot up last month. They also just had their first heat this week, so that seemed to affect them for a couple days.
:frow
What's up?
I just rolled out of bed. I slept in. I needed it. Stupid shark week is making me lose sleep, but I can't help it - I must watch it. Strange addiction :P
Funny story - couple nights ago my son fell out of bed or something that made a loud noise right above my room. I was...
Only you could have a one chick a day hatch :D
OK, if this puking business is traveling around the state now then I need to make sure my herbals are stocked up.
@ Pat :gig
Now that I think about it - my goats have not been vary active since last fall simply because it's been either too wet or too hot to get out of the barn :/ I hope we get a break soon.
Both adult goats were in heat yesterday :ep I'm not ready to think about it yet.
I weighed one...
:frow Miss ya!
That passed-out keet photo is awesome
Nice deal on the beef! I got 80 pounds of grass fed ground beef at a discount for the freezer when our meat guy had to cull a cow from the herd. We use ground beef more than anything else so it worked out great for us.
I don't know how your county/state works, but here there is a Jr. Fair category - for kids in 4-H and FFA, and then most counties have a Sr. Fair category, also called open class, for everyone else. Only the 4-H animals stay at the fair all week. All other animals have particular days when they...
Ugh, sorry to hear about your roo problem. That stinks big time!
I hope Nana goes peacefully. Poor thing.
Guess what? My goats are in heat! I never would have noticed if Perdy hadn't had hay and stuff sticking to her hiney parts. I'm going to hold them off until late fall though. I think :P
:lau
Process it? :gig
I'm just laughing because I had to get rid of our midget rooster this week. Seriously though - doesn't that pipsqueak crowing just crack you up?
...and that's a really nice garden space!
He really was a jaunty little fellow. He like living dangerously :/
So the mystery gendered EE is officially a HEN! :ya Caught her laying an egg this morning. I really thought this was a roo from the start - she was aggressive, had alot of red coloring which is indicative of a roo, and her tail...
Mr. Napoleon (see tiny roo photo on previous page) is no longer with us. He took his gals out on one too many excursions yesterday and sealed his own fate. Stupid rooster :smack
