Great Pyrenees! It wasn't my first choice of dog. I've always wanted a German Shepherd or an Australian Shepherd, but it is the right dog for our situation right now. We need a dog that will protect our livestock and keep the resident bobcat away from our yard, since we now have a little...
Yes, it has a plastic tray in the bottom, but I'm thinking that the food juices will fly in all directions, yes? Cleaning the metal mesh isn't very easy. Maybe if I lined the inside with plastic? :)
Good info. Thanks. :)
Thanks for the info Dace and Tortoise. :)
I was thinking maybe a very large stainless steel bowl might contain most of the mess? I won't be able to feed the puppy outside until warmer weather prevails.
Do you buy the salmon oil and vitamin E at the drug store (packaged for human...
Thank you everyone for your replies!
Both my husband and I are excited about this puppy as it will be our first dog. :) We want to set it on the best possible path that we can.
I'm wondering, for those of you who feed raw, where you feed your dogs or how you make sure it is easy to clean up...
If you are starting a family, it just makes sense, if you ask me, if you can afford to, to stay home as much as possible. You can always refine your work schedule when (or if) you feel you would like to later. Enjoy your chance to do something different. :)
:gig Thanks for the chuckles, Modern_pioneer. I USED to have that sort of indoor temperature, but with my little one now it is more like . . . wake up every 2 hrs . . . not always to feed the baby, but definitely to feed the fire. :lau
I'm also laughing about the veggie growing. My...
I'm looking for some guidelines. I saw the following comment from Tortoise in another thread, but would like more specifics (paging Tortoise):
I'm thinking I might keep the puppy on kibble as part of it's long term diet, but would like to feed maybe one meal per day of raw. What is the...
You realize that you can fit a pint canning jar in your automobile's cup holder. :P
That was me this morning.
I thought you all might enjoy adding one or two of your own amusing SS moments here . . . (this hasn't already been done before has it? I tried to search for a similar thread, but I...
Lame
Well, y'all could always just use a term that sounds similar, but is spelled different, like "herban homesteaders." :P (sorry for the lame suggestion).
Congratulations!!!! I say go by the date of the "oops." :) That is what I believed all along, even though the professionals would try to talk me down to the LMP date. :P I started labor the day I expected that I was due (due to the "oops" date). Make sense? LOL
It depends . . . I direct sow squash if the weather conditions are conducive. If the weather is on the cool side and I need to get them started because it is getting on into the growing season, then I will start them in 4" pots indoors and carefully transplant (without disturbing the roots)...
The first 6 weeks or so we were going through 60 diapers in 2 days! :barnie I had to buy more diapers because my intention was to get through half a week, at least, without having to do laundry. Thankfully, now that I have more like 80 diapers, I am finally getting through half a week. But...
I'm using the prefolds too. I would recommend the diaper covers called "thirsties " that have velcro tabs to close over the diaper. They are lined with some sort of water-repellent material.
If you have a good washing machine, it might have a soak cycle like mine does. I don't pre-soak the...
