Well, I'm starting to repeat myself, so this will be my last post on the subject.
My point is we live in a mixed economic system. We always have, and always will. It is fine to oppose a system whose major thrust is socialism, which I think WBF is trying to say. To oppose individual programs...
You have a point. That is how many socialists see it now days,in fact. The left has decided it doesn't trust the government any more than the right, so many prefer to develop their own cooperatives rather than trust the government.
So you are okay with the government owning SOME means of production of goods and services, as long as it doesn't own all of it. Great.
I guess that means you are okay with socialized medicine. :D
Every institution I listed can be (and frequently is) done by the private sector, but is being...
Well, no it isn't. That is a misconception many folks have. No system is either 100% socialist or 100% capitalist. It is always a mix. Always.
The vast majority of Americans believe in various forms of socialist institutions and take advantage of them on a daily basis. That makes them...
You pay for them with your tax dollars, whether you use them or not. They are collectively owned for the good of the collective. That is socialism. You take advantage of socialism every time you drive down a publicly funded and maintained road.
All of the following are paid for by the collective...
Public Schools
Public transportation
Public libraries
Roads
Water distribution
Sanitation departments
Social Security
Unemployment benefits
Farm Subsidies
Paid fire departments
Public parks...
Need I go on? :)
There was a recent phenom 5 year old whose paintings sold for thousands. She was way beyond her years, and people found it unbelievable a child could paint like that.
Turns out she couldn't. Her daddy did.
For a kid they were incredible. For an adult contemporary artist it was unremarkable...
That could work. But I'm lazy and don't shut them up at night, so that would mean a whole 'nother trip. :D
But really, tipping it over a quick step on it works fine. One of the cool things about that kind of container, the ice doesn't really want to stick to that rubber, anyway.
Maybe I should...
Acres USA and Countryside and Small Stock Journal are two excellent replacement mags. Friends who go way back with MEN tell me the latter is what Mother Earth News used to be.
MEN still has some good articles, though, but I read those at the library for free.
This is Oklahoma. Everybody in the country owns their own personal arsenal. There are much easier targets for the twits, gun carrying or otherwise.
I don't much worry about it.
I have four Pyrs. There is no need to check for predators. They either go away and stay away or they die.
I do think if we lived in town it would be different, or if these weren't working dogs. But country neighbors who complain about an LGD doing his job is like them complaining about my...
It's my dogs' job to deter and protect. One of the tools they use for that is barking. When I hear it, I know they are doing their job.
But I still feel for those of you it bothers.
