Will they foreclose in this economy?

Yes they will foreclose and unfortunately the more equity he's got in the house, the more incentive they have to go forward with a foreclosure. The good news is that it takes more than two missed payments for them to foreclose. There is a pretty long process and it takes 4-6 months. He needs...

what to do with small, mesh bags (e.g. from onions)

Save them for home grown garlic/onions. Save the larger ones for drip drying dishes while camping. Feel really good about having a great plan for re-using said bags. Try not to get mad at your kids for using them in a "craft" project that consists the bags you carefully cut open and...

    hen stopped laying

My hens come to a screeching halt in the winter. The shortest day of the year is December 21st, and depending on how far north you are, you might not be getting enough daylight hours. We finally broke down and put a light in the coop. We're getting a few eggs now, but not near the summer...

    Hydroponics

My husband and I stopped in a Hydroponic supply shop a couple years ago, mainly out of curiosity. The stuff was EXPENSIVE! As a hobby it would be way the heck out of my means. If you did it on a farm scale it would be quite the initial investment. I suppose there are a few crops that could...

Lots of use from little land.......

I am on a measly little acre. But compared to most lots in our town it is HUGE. We have chickens but no goats. I wish there was some way I could "test drive" a goat or two to see if it would work here. For 2009 I am just trying to maintain what I've got, garden wise, and not add more work...

    Strawberries

I always have good luck with strawberries, but I just grow the June bearing ones. I also live in a completely different climate than you. I also spread lots of compost and pine needles on them. Mine also seem to do the best in their second year. The third is pretty good too but then they...

    Any composters on board??

I love composting. It's probably my favorite part of gardening. We just have a big old pile that is surrounded by chicken wire. I think I may need to make my "bin" a little smaller so the stuff can be piled deeper.
