Wow! And I thought just "tilling" my garden with a shovel was hard work! I sure hope you get some good crops after all that.

    Stop bed wetting

Ha! I was thinking all that popped corn would soak up the extra liquid in the stomach, thus eliminating the need to pee in the night. It's probably something much more medicinal than that, lol.

Mysterious lurkers on the SS forum

It has changed some. Seems like the regulars here now are a little friendlier than a few of the regulars were when I first started. Like my son says, "It's all good."

What pills have you quit taking, looking for alternatives?

I took the boring way out and just bought turmeric capsules. But I have the powder, too. I've been meaning to make that tea.

Just a suggestion: If you decide to go gluten free, do it totally, for a couple weeks, at least. A month would be better. It will take some planning and shopping, but you can find gluten free pasta and crackers and stuff so your family doesn't feel like they are being punished. And only change...

    black cohosh for hot flashes?

I tried it. It raised my liver enzymes to the point my rheumatologist got alarmed. Not taking it now, of course. I wish I could find something that works.

What pills have you quit taking, looking for alternatives?

Oh! The Similasan is what I am using now! It helps a little, but not when I get a really itchy fit going on. I have to take diphenhydramine for that (benedryl) (the cheap allergy pills from Dollar Store) (also the active ingredient in most OTC sleep aids) I also found a natural eyedrop for dry...

I second the idea to check out the GAPS diet. It is a total change to the way nearly everyone eats, but if the problems are bad enough, a mom will try just about anything.

Some of the soda is going to have stevia. It's at least a sweetener that's tried and true, for about a thousand years. :thumbsup

What pills have you quit taking, looking for alternatives?

hqueen13, please tell us what kind of eye drops you use? I don't like to use the OTC ones that have all the chemicals. And, I just wanted to mention, to you who have carpal tunnel issues, you might want to try turmeric, for the inflammation. I use it for various inflamed arthritis joints. It...

    How fat is obese?

Today our local news station (KFVS12) ran a story about how aspartame inhibits serotonin production, thus causing depression in kids, as well as adults. I have never seen aspartame bad-mouthed in this way before! Yea! It was approved 30 years ago, and is used in everything. If the food says "low...

    How fat is obese?

If you watch network TV, you can see where the big money is being spent regarding meds. Obesity, depression, heartburn, constipation, impotence, the common cold, type 2 diabetes, arthritis and allergies. I'm sure I am missing some important ones---oh yes, headache and insomnia. ALL of which can...

    How fat is obese?

And what's with all the special "kid" foods these days? One of my DILs used to buy her pre-school kids the little TV type kid foods that were supposedly healthy, but kid-friendly. Well, they are so artificial tasting, with added sugar and nasty stuff. Not to mention expensive! I am glad to say...
