Thanks for all the ideas! It smells fine, in fact it really doesn't have a smell at all. I actually took it back out of the fridge so I can make cottage cheese. The next question is...what do I do with the whey?
The kids left the milk out yesterday afternoon and I just now saw it this morning. Please tell me I don't have to dump it?! It's about a half a gallon of raw milk I got two days ago. I know I read a post somewhere on here about leaving milk out overnight before making something with it.
It usually gets cooler than 40* in Jan-Feb here in Georgia, but I plan on taking mine to the butcher. The one down the road from me charges 40 cents a pound plus a $30 kill fee. I figure that's not too bad.
I paid $45 for mine at 6 weeks old and they are just mixed breed pigs. If I was...
The cow finally has a name, we've gone with the Disney theme and named the mama Ariel and the baby Melody. I have been happily surprised with how calm Ariel is now. I haven't had a bit of a fight with her, despite not having a way to hold her. She stands fairly still and lets me milk while...
Pear honey! I found the recipe on food.com, I'm at work and posting on my phone or I'd post a link for you. My kids love it, especially on pancakes or biscuits.
Thanks for all the help! She let me rub all over her this morning, everywhere but her teats. But even when I tried to touch her teats she just stepped away from me, she didn't try to kick at me. This evening was a different story, she didn't want anything to do with me or the feed. Watching...
Our Jersey heifer is about to calve any minute now. Her bag has gotten huge and she's got some mucus discharge. She is so not ready to be milked yet though. She'll let me rub all over her head and neck but won't let me anywhere near her legs or udder. :barnie Goats would have been so much...
For a couple weeks I was actually using some of the stuff as long as it was just webs and not actual worms, until it dawned on me that I needed to get rid of everything that was infested if I ever wanted to get rid of the problem.
The problem with freezing stuff is that I simply don't have...

My house has been invaded. At first we didn't realize what they were, I've lived in the South for 12 years and have never had a problem with bugs in my food. I didn't see any moths in the pantry or in the spare room where we keep a lot of our dry goods. The...
I just bought some black-out curtains at Walmart for less than $15 each, which is a lot cheaper than I could make them. I am surprised at how much cooler the house is now
The hive is fairly small still. There have been a fair amount of bees coming and going except for the past couple days which have been really windy and fairly cool. I haven't seen any bees hanging around outside the hive. All the frames in the bottom super are completely drawn out, although...
Queen cell, is this bad news? I found this in my hive, do I leave it alone? I didn't see the queen this time, but I did see several cells with eggs and larvae.
Varroa mite? Just right of the middle about an inch down? It was the only one I saw in both hives. Do I just keep an eye on...
I checked them last Wednesday and things look to be improving. I found the queen in my son's hive and about a dozen cells with eggs in them so that is a good sign. They've gone through about a quart of sugar water since then also, which is more than my hive has used, but I'm assuming that's...
