    LovinLife- Happy New Year's all!

I think there is a big difference between giving a kid a second chance by not enforcing the punishment and giving a kid a second chance by letting them fix their mistakes. That being said, I also don't think a kid should be given the option to fix their mistake every time. There have been...

    LovinLife- Happy New Year's all!

He knew the consequences and he chose to miss the trip by disobeying. Letting him be upset for a few minutes will go a lot further to reinforce the rules than changing the consequence now. At 5, he may be upset that he is missing out, but it will probably be a lot more embarrassing for you...

Mandieg4 - Update and lots of new pics of kids and animals.

Our soon to be a mama! Any ideas how to tame her down? She's not nearly as friendly as the calves are and we've only got a couple months before she's ready to milk. Feeding time! I'm being good, Mama. Really, I am! Our dog, Nelson, has a really strong herding instinct. We have to work...

How much do you spend on food?

For 6 people, I spend around $400 a month on groceries, try to keep in under $100 a month eating out, and probably average around $150 a month on farm related stuff. Unfortunately our income is about to be drastically cut so our percentage will probably double. I'm going over and over our...

New beek. New pictures and new questions

I'm in Georgia and I've been told we are actually coming to the end of our spring nectar flow, but I do have a top feeder with the 1:1 sugar water in it. These are established colonies, the queens were raised in these boxes but they were just moved from North Georgia to my place in Mid Georgia...

New beek. New pictures and new questions

These bees are super mellow. I was really nervous the first time I opened the hive on Wednesday but today I didn't even use my gloves. I still feel like I have no idea what I am doing, but I'm enjoying the learning process more than I thought I would.

New beek. New pictures and new questions

The second frame is out of my son's hive, but it is the only frame that look likes that. His two outside frames are completely empty except for wax. The third frame is the top picture and the middle frame is the second picture. Almost all of my frames look like the bottom frame except for the...

New beek. New pictures and new questions

This is my son's hive. I don't think it is doing so well. We got both hives on Monday. I let them settle for two days before I opened them up. In my hive, I have eggs, larvae, and capped brood. In my son's I have nothing, no eggs, no larvae, and half the bees. The queen cages in both hives...

    stopped by GoodWill today

Our goodwill is way overpriced too. T-shirts are $3 and jeans are $10. Books are $1 and up. Granted, I do usually check the books because some books are worth a dollar, but kids' books? Nah, I'll find them at a yard sale for a dime. I wanted to buy my son a bike for his 3rd birthday and...
