Oh yeah, don't throw it out. Our first batch of peach jam came out hard as a rock! I have to take it and put the jar in a sink of hot water to even loosten in up enough to pry any out of the jar. Then I put it in a sauce pan and heat it up to go over vanilla ice cream. Yum!
Washed and dried for re-use some tinfoil, re-used some ziplock sandwich bags for the umpteenth time, ate home made English muffins instead of store bought and brough leftovers to work for lunch along with bringing my coffee from home. Oh yeah, and took a shower at the gym. Might as well use...
Welcome Lisa! That is what I find so great about this site and the sister sites. Real people, living real lives that aren't "real perfect" all the time! :D People from all over, sharing their ideas, suggestions, joys and dissapointments. We all learn from each other. Glad you have joined us.
I like the idea that you all have nieghbors etc that will barter. I have two people that buy eggs from me at work. Other than that, when people hear what I am making, they say, "if you have any extra cheese I'll take it" or "if you have extra eggs, I'll take um" or "wow, I could use some of...
My hubby and I made our first liquid laundry soap this weekend. I gave some to my sister in law to try. They are really strapped, so I hope that it is a blessing and that it works out for them. I have a little bit of store bought stuff that I have to use up first, but the home made stuff...
Mine is are farms name. We named our farm Stubborn Hill Farm, because every process of this farm has been stubborn right from the get go. The rocky terrain of Maine makes the ground stubborn to till, our first two cows were stubborn as all get out, our driveway is a 985 ft up hill windy dirt...
That did sound funny! What I meant, was that my taxidermist would have to mount my dog and make it look like he was drooling, because that is what he does when he sits next to us at the table. :D
I feel kind of bad even asking this because apparently, comparred to some, our electric bill is pretty good. However, our bill did double this month! A couple of obvious reasons; 1. Our youngest daughter is home from the Coast Guard living with us temporarily as she is at a temp station...
I think you are practical as are my husband and I. Our livestock and pets are well taken care of. They live wonderful animal lives. And as others have said, "serve a purpose". (with the exception of my daughters indoor cat ) We have spent, in the past, hundreds of dollars on two...
I'm sure this is not a "news flash" to anyone. But it dawned on me, that for cooking, I should be using dry milk instead of milk from the grocer a $4.00+ a gallon. I did it in home made whole-wheat blueberry pancakes. If I can just remember to do that every time, I will save a bundle!
I do have to say that the "reality" shows, (and I know that this is not a news flash) aren't really reality. My daughters best friend was just on one of the more popular couponing shows a couple of months ago. All of the sales and specials are predetermined. The grocery store that they went...
