    Frugal snack ideas.

I buy the cheap cheese crackers, pretzels, and the generic gold fish or corn chips. When I get home I mix them all together in a large bowl or bucket to make like a snack mix. Then I fill small ziplock bags (that are probably reused about 100 times for this same thing) with about 1 cup of the...

What are all of you crafters making for Christmas?

I forgot to say that for my nieces and nephews I am going to make these cute fleece hats. They are super easy and you can use up scraps of fleece to make them. The picture is of the one I made my youngest son. (he is also the cutie in the picture)

    outdoor setup for canning?

When I was younger I lived on a farm with my Mom and her husband at the time for a few years. It was so nice. There was a little bld just out the back door alittle way. My Mom's husband called it a summer kitchen. It was not real big, probably 10X10. It had windows all around on three sides...

    Home made......

This is too wierd. The boys and I made a huge batch of hot cocoa mix today. We use powdered milk, nestle quick, coffee creamer, and powdered sugar. Then you can either mix it with water or milk. I prefer milk but my DH likes to mix his with water.

k0xxx - Wow! You are very prepared! We have also went through a tornado. Lost everything, had to rebuild, the whole nine yards. That is when we purchased our generator and began to really become more prepared for anything that might happen. To be honest with you, when we look back now the...

Frugal kitchen tips and hints. Share!!!

I had never thought of the pumps for shampoo either. What a great idea especially for my younger two boys. They seem to think you need a handfull of soap to wash their almost shaved heads! :o I have been taking their shampoo out of reach when they get in the bath and then "rationing" it...

Essential Items For Surviving in the Event of Rationing-Depression

I agree. Just look around you and be realistic about what you need to survive every day. Stock up on items that you are light on and continue doing what you are doing if you feel it is adequate ( such as canning, splitting wood, etc.) I feel pretty comfortable as far as the amt of food and...

I don't usually rave about a movie, but I was pleasantly surprised...

We hardly ever rented movies untill Red Box showed up everywhere. It is easy to use and only $1.00 a night. Renting a movie still only happens about once a month or so for us. I will have to check this movie out sometime. Probably on a weekend my DH is busy with work and the boys are doing...
