My Mom in law has alpaca and I would LOVE to get her fiber and learn to spin! If I got the fiber, could anyone help get me started?! I may not need it, as I haven't even googled it yet. I am now invigorated after reading the earlier post saying you just had to wash the yarn arfter spinning, as...
Thank you Joel! I will look into these things! I think I may have to do #3, as I always let it warm up. It runs just fine on half choke, but I will refresh the gas just in case, and see if I need the spray. Couldn't hurt. I'll let you know what happens... hopefully the rain will ease up and I...
I don't remember the beer, as it was a couple years ago now. It wasn't a kit. It was with the help of an aquaintence that does beer/wine a lot. I usually like hefeweizen or some of the local (NW) area brews like Fat Tire and others I can't remember at the moment! I have actually never been all...
So my property is only .42 of an acre, but nature likes to try and reclaim it constantly...
I was cheap when I bought our first weed whacker. :hide I went with a gas Homelite. Now it seems that at least once a year when I move it from half choke to wide open, it stalls. When it was still under...
Since, ya'll know so much about citrus crops... I bought a miniature lemon tree last year from a company that sent me a catalog. It's cute, and the flowers are devine, but I never get more than a couple, and never any lemons! It's supposed to set normal sized fruit! Any ideas on how to pollinate...
I dunno, you might be able to pull it off with the right equipment and a mutual agreement between you! You would have to do all the processing of the grain on an outdoor propane burner (not for safety, but do to the persistant fragance... unless you try it, and don't mind. Many wives don't put...
I tested my wood chopping skills once. LOL! We had some downed branches, so I figured I would shop them up and stack them for our summer fire pit habit. Well, I had never seriously used an axe before, and wasn't sure how to go about it. At some point one of the small logs (2-3 in across) crossed...
I can't believe there isn't a thread about this on here yet! I have only made my own beer once, but it was awesome. Now I am wanting to do it again as soon as I can get the money for ingredients. (We aren't in an area where I can just grow or barter for them, unfortunately) Anyone have a...
Getting rid of buckets!? This is foreign in our house! lol!
We use them for mixing cement, carting chicken feed, carrying weeds to the bin, holding "stuff," etc. I agree you could get some money for food grade buckets! You could also use them for food/ water for chickens, or even possibly as...
How do I get a picture next to my name or upload pics into a post, etc? I am still new, so I don't know if I can yet... but I don't have any idea how to do it.
I am a baby gardener, and I have heard that tomatoes are difficult to grow from seed. I can see that being both true and not, as we had some sprout in a random pot of dirt that was never watered, under our covered patio on the north side of our house! We don't even know how they got there! Does...
Congrats! Home ownership is awesome and exhausting! It's like a hobby, but since you are HERE, I don't think you'll mind ;)
In other thoughts, YOU BOUGHT A 4 BEDROOM HOUSE FOR $40,000?! Where the beans do you live?! I could possibly get a manufactured home and no land to put it on for that!
I can't remember where I saw it now... but the idea was to use 2 pallets as an outside table! You essentially use some 4x4 on each corner and two pallets, one on top and one on bottom. Once it weathers uniformly it looks really neat!
Just more proof that people will buy anything when they don't know what they're doing. It really didn't look all that safe OR predator proofed at all... some day the 'coons will find that spot and they will start wondering where their eggs and chickens are going.
I literally just registered, and wanted to say hello.
I didn't realize that there were others like me out there! I haven't gotten the chance to be as SS as many of you out there, but we do enough to baffle certain friends. We have chickens (a LOT of chickens), a decent veggie garden, we...
