I've been known to. Do you need some eggs?

HandledWithCare :: An Interesting Few Days

Well we got the goats. The doe is as tame as promised and she is awesome on a lead. She will let herself be milked and you can mess with her front feet without ANY protest. Her back feet will be more of a 2 person clipping job, but that's it! We put her in the horse stall and the first--two...

HandledWithCare :: An Interesting Few Days

Yeah I've seen pictures, ugh. I can't see his horn buds in the picture but if they're VERY tiny I may band. I'll get the vet's advice too.

HandledWithCare :: An Interesting Few Days

Well I guess I'm getting goats. A man had some good prices--I'm sure it's the hay shortages--on a Nigerian Dwarf doe and her just-weaned buckling. She hasn't been milked but is supposedly tame and has allowed the owner to check her bag and teats and all that fairly often so maybe I can talk her...

Wannabefree...guess what I got in the mail today!?!?!?!?

It feels awful to get so bombarded on a forum--or FB--that you run away. On another for sale forum I was a pariah for telling a man he should stop breeding rabbits because he said he had so many he was turning them loose outside. One guy was like "They're his pets outside!" Ha! Pets with rampant...

livin' on the funny farm- SUCCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently West of here there's a hay shortage. I saw corn earlier this year but nothing now. I'd like to grow a patch of Timothy this year but I'm not sure about the weather. I'd like for it to cool off and rain some more! What kind of sheep did/do you have, just curious.

    Mouse repellent

Pure peppermint oil--not the cooking kind!--will run them off. Be warned though if you use this in just one room they'll congregate in the other rooms to avoid it. Just soak a cottonball in it and toss it under the bed, in a drawer, etc. We also used peppermint in the barn and it kept them from...

HandledWithCare :: An Interesting Few Days

Had a decent day yesterday, got a lot done. We went to our weekly market and sold some silkie young chickens, eggs, soap and some of our handmade jewelry. All told we made about $60 and I traded my extra male Coturnix for some tomatoes; he was bullying everyone and I don't care for that. Got...

Wannabefree...guess what I got in the mail today!?!?!?!?

I don't know, depending on how long it was in there it might be worth a look. Are we talking Guinness world record golf-ball tick here? Sorry the heat got to me!

Wannabefree...guess what I got in the mail today!?!?!?!?

It's hot here right now but nothing as bad as yesterday or last week! Those 105-115 indexes kill me. I can't wait til Fall; I wait for it every year just as excited as I can be. It's nasty out here in the summer!

HandledWithCare :: An Interesting Few Days

Nah the pet scene down here is SO shady. The farmers are starting to take cues. Bad breeders abound and good breeders all keep a ton of secrets from each other lest they give tips to the competition.

HandledWithCare :: An Interesting Few Days

I'm so glad I'm not the only one annoyed. I believe he thinks he can manipulate buyers and get his price--and it's a decent price I wouldn't lower! I don't ever have to guilt anyone to get my prices even on the ones I can't eat! I've had someone threaten to eat a Lionhead if I didn't buy it and...

HandledWithCare :: An Interesting Few Days

A man today on a local forum had rabbits for sale, $10 a piece. A man offered him $3 a piece for ten of them and he refused. Sure it's a pain when somebody offers to "take livestock off your hands" for a hilariously small price, but this guy says "No I'd rather turn them loose for that price...

Man I really admire you, WBF. Everytime I read your posts you are working your butt off! We can all take a lesson from you about work ethic!

How do you store your extra feed?

I have a compound bow I'm learning to hunt with but I can't aim. It's legal to protect your livestock here and in my area there are as many hawks as their are cottontails and they both give me fits. I'd happily run them off if anything worked but they seem pretty comfortable to sit around and...

Yeah they're a rare breed and can be expensive in a lot of places. It's kind of odd since they're tiny.

How do you store your extra feed?

I need to store a ton of feed for the poultry. I can't free range them because of a pair of redtail hawks that have moved into a tree right over their run. They watch them everyday trying to figure out how to get them and even went after one of my Lionhead rabbits once. I wish they'd move on...

Elwood and family's journal of our ss journey

I had some Nigerians I was getting for $300 a piece until I snooper around on a few sites I didn't expect would have anything and found some for $80! Sometimes just a little extra searching will pay off big time. What breed of goats are you getting?
