    Where The Deals Are

I've seen some great deals made at house contents sales. I guess you'd find similar items to yard and garage sales, but these involve an auctioneer, and I think a good strategy is to have a good look at what's available and may be sold as part of a group and you may spot something you want...

    The Daily Show

Wasn't Harrison Ford discovered on a film set where he was working as a carpenter? And speaking of musicians, I believe Hey Lewis worked as one as well.

    TV Seasons on DVD

I'd love to see new stand-up from Titus. I've seen parts of his one man show Norman Rockwell is Bleeding and a set he did at the Just For Laffs festival in Montreal, but nothing lately.

    HBO Shows

I haven't watched any of those, but some people at work were watching Entourage on a laptop and they said it was very good. I like that the producers are trying some new approaches to the dramas they produce. Now if they'd just stop making reality shows...

    Cooking without fire

I like spinach and mushroom salad. You toss that in a ranch dressing after washing the spinach and slicing the mushrooms. It's very good and a nice change from Caesar salad every now and then.

    Money spent wisely

I've seen some great deals on perfectly good food items. And if you have a bunch of vegetables that are about to become over-ripe, you may be able to blanch them and freeze them.

    Your Thoughts on the Economy?

In Canada at least, I'm sure it's not. You hire a lawyer to go to the appropriate office where the land titles are kept and he/she sees if a previous owner borrowed money using the land as collateral and if that loan is still outstanding.

    Adirondack or Muskoka Chairs?

I like those large wooden chairs you see on porches that are called Adirondack or Muskoka chairs. I think that would be a great project. Has anybody here made one of those?

10-12 Glasses of Water Everyday For A Healthy You

I think that I'm less likely to have sore feet while standing a long time if I remain hydrated. It's hard to say for sure, but there have been days at work when I've avoided drinking water to reduce the need to relieve my kidneys when there wasn't a washroom on site. And there are other days...

    Harry Potter at Last

We had a wonderful neighbor who passed away a few years ago in her mid-eighties and she pre-ordered the Harry Potter books. We inherited a couple of her Harry Potter movies, which have her name written on the case, making them even more of a keepsake. I think that one of the actors in the new...

Raids on Medical Marijuana Clubs to End

There are also movements to legalize it in Canada. I think that it's technically "de-criminalized" and that possession of small amounts doesn't carry much of a penalty. I read that once PM Trudeau was once asked if he'd smoked pot. Apparently, his answer was "In which country?". :o

Ready for the Cable Company Switches?

Do you think that it could be directly related to the economy? I guess I'm second guessing a lot of things against the financial situation these days.

    "Industrial" metals a good investment?

Actually Sagemother, the person I talked to would suggest owning gold and silver coins and bars, rather than stock in a company mining them. We haven't specifically discussed nickel.

    Mental and Emotional Health Neglected?

I've definitely heard of people losing sleep because of the economy, and I've experienced that a bit myself. I think that exercise can be very beneficial. Walking in an area you enjoy can be helpful, I'd say. Also getting a good book from the library costs nothing or in my case I dig through...

    Your Thoughts on the Economy?

I'm not suggesting that a lawyer is involved in negotiations, other than advising against a bad deal. I suppose you could buy property here in Canada without a lawyer too, but the first concern I'd have would be to do a title search to see if there were any liens on the property. And I'd also...

    New Credit Card Regulations

I think Twiceshy is referring to some actual changes in the regulations, maybe that will take place in the US? Of course they've always been trying to get you to use their cards. Once my wife and I were in a bank that was renegotiating our mortgage and they tried to get us to take one of their...

    Money spent wisely

I'm spending very little on promotion in general, too. I'm shopping around more carefully for larger items and for food as well. I'm looking for deals on food that can be stored for a long time like dry pasta and some canned food.

    Does recession hit your pocket?

What happened? Do you mean that Google didn't like the way your ads were being clicked on or something like that? Good luck with the blog, by the way.

    "Iron Wood"?

I have an "iron wood" walking stick that was bought in Jamaica. It has an interesting grain to it and it's very heavy. Has anybody here seen this kind of wood or used it in a project?

    TV Seasons on DVD

Do you not watch a good movie more than once? For me, it's very similar. If it's a good show, it's worth watching again. We're in the process of watching the entire series of The X Files and that takes a long time. I'd expect we won't do that again for a few years.
