    cleaning

Does anyone else have trouble getting their kids to actually clean something?! This is what my 13-yr old stepson called a clean sink. He got the counter area ok but that bowl was disgusting! He was in that bathroom no more than 20 minutes ‘cleaning’ the sink and tub for me due to needing to...

    Were in for an adventure!

This is my only viable pregnancy and most likely the only one I’ll have. DH has a 13 year old boy so the age difference has me concerned

    Holiday Season

I’m glad you like it. To bad I can’t afford to keep the website going. Now that we’re expecting a baby this summer I won’t be able to do much of anything except the chickens and a couple tomatoes in pots for the next couple of years. And to top it off our furnace broke down today. Something with...

    Um what the heck?

we don't actually have a vet...... she's had at least one litter prior to us getting her, the previous caretakers of my sweet girl we're not good people. claimed she was fixed but we found no scar, claimed she was about 3 years younger than she really was, we think shes about 8 now and we...

    Um what the heck?

I wanna say it’s been about 2-3 months since her last heat. As long as it’ll go away I’ll stop worrying.

    Um what the heck?

I’m 99.9% certain my dog isn’t pregnant but it appears she’s producing milk?! It’s coming from each one when pressure is applied. It was an accident and then I checked them all!

What happens to layers when they stop laying~WARNING: GRAPHIC PICS

I lost a chicken this past spring, she had laid a double yolker a week or two before we found her dead in the yard. I can't do necropsy because I live in town and it would fall under butchering to the city officials who are buttholes.

    Natural animal care

How would you guys treat chicken mites? They've migrated to my legs which are now raw from itching. I've even been to the doctor who gave me ivermectin pills and it helped but it didn't get rid of it entirely. I provide the girls with a dust bath that has DE sprinkled in there on occasion but...

    Making a new coop

three, even in rain mine are outside though. We call them dodos for it. unless its biting cold out they would rather be outside scratching around. I have limited yard space so i can't go much longer than 6 feet total length and any wider that 4ish feet will make it hard for me to move by myself.

    Making a new coop

@Beekissed we're looking at adapting this one here that we found on instructables We'd add a door we can open and close from outside the fence to put the girls up at night and the top of the run most likely wouldn't have a roof. Plus adding a window on the side facing us that would be for...

    Making a new coop

@Beekissed oys not going to be stationary. It’s going to be moved around every day or two and there is quite a bit of ventilation in one of the design I saw through the google search link Joel posted. My current one was poorly designed and built I’ll admit but we were naive when it came to...

    Making a new coop

Here is the exsisting monster. Without a fork lift we wouldn’t be able to budge it. The bottom is two shipping pallets connected together and planked for the floor. The fence is also caving in thanks to a huge silver maple coming down on it and the shed this spring. Also the jery-rigged frame...

    Making a new coop

Alright so after having chickens for three years I've finally came to the conclusion that my coop is way too big. The hen house itself is 4wx6lx5h and the chicken yard has been barren for the past two years and has lost soil due to erosion no matter how much straw I put in to try and preserve...
