Anyone else sign up for the free homesteading summit from Mother Earth News and the grow network? Only one I actually wanted to watch today was bill's seed saving one
And I have some leftover syrup so I popped over to the store for some vanilla ice cream. This chubby girl is gonna be super happy once my tummy settles enough for dessert
Its taken two-ish hours but I just got done peeling, coring, and cutting up approximately 10 lbs of apples that I got for about $5 total. I'm now waiting for the syrup to boil so I can make apple pie filling and can it all. I made a half recipe...
So I finally got my hands on an honest to goodness dehydrator! I need recipes, it came with a few for jerkys and the times for veggies but what do you guys make with the stuff you dry and put up?
@tc556guy thank you for your input i appreciate it. I sadly don't have a vacuum sealer and know i cant afford to get one any time soon. We had to think ease of assembly when we started this part of our preps. I plan on adding sugar free candy as well as a moral booster that won't give us a sugar...
Same as the original but im going to find some long shelf life vitamin packs to toss in there. I know they might be a bit much for my son but its better than malnourishment plus ya never know WHEN you'll need them and he may well be of an age where the adult vitamins will be the right amount
I convinced him to keep the ramen until we 'find a better option'. Now to go buy new MRE fixins cause ours 'expired' and DH wont let me practice with the original ones till we make new ones
I need to clean out my deep freeze so I can make some freezer meals and we're not sufficient enough to not buy frozen dinners or hamburger helper sadly. I don't make them often though. Only when I find them on sale and can't think of anything else
Here's the tomatoes and peppers! Gotta spray paint my garden staples to prevent rust before I put my drip hose on top. Then I'll do my seed beds on top of that and do the direct sowings! Next week I direct sow the beans I got from @BlueJay77
I did a quick search and I didn't see anything dedicated strictly to strawbales. I'm planning a strawbale garden this year with lots of herbs interplanted amongst the veggies as companion plants. Has anyone had experience with this type of format for gardening?
