Most of the time it's just me and billy but with us both working the night shift I have to have dinner prepared before work so I can take some with me and he can heat some up when he comes home for his hour lunch break
This is what I'm fixing this week. I kinda theme out some days to make the choices narrow down a bit. Monday is meatless Wednesday is leftover night and Fridays are really hectic with picking up Joey that I do slow cooker meals on fridays
@frustratedearthmother it's not as complicated as some people make it out to be! I go buy a simple planner at the big box store and use the month view for my menu. Honestly the hardest part is planning around my stepson being a picky kid and attempting to refuse to eat.
Who here plans out a menu with your pantry in mind so that the stuff you can't seem to store is figured out and you don't have to make last minute runs to the store?
Well I do and it saves us loads of money. It has cut back on the impulse buys (except gardening stuff, not allowed in the garden...
@hqueen13 you just gave me the most brilliant inspiration ever. I was totally resigned to just doing the outcrosses bush beans that I'm getting from the Little Easy Bean Network and now I can try to okra companion plantin to grow some pole beans. I could kiss you!
Still haven't ordered the clothes line. Crap keeps coming up that is way more important. Strawberry patch is dug and lined with garden film and chicken wire (stupid freaking burrowing creature) just needs some garden soil and the frost free date. I ended up with a but load of strawberry plants...
Looky what I found!

I'm going to use it to keep the little **** head dogs in my neighborhood from hiking a leg on my garden and keep them out of my yard in general.
Oh I also bought some strawberry plants at my local walmart. Allstar June-bearing and Quinalt ever-bearing. And I bout peed myself when I saw lily of the valley roots! From what my grandma always said they are practically extinct here so I grabbed a 3root bag and put it in a small pot till...
I started my herbs last weekend and already have tiny green things hehehe. I started my ancho, cayenne and green bell peppers as well as 5 heirloom tomato varieties and a store bought Roma tomato that in the years to come will hopefully become my own little heirloom :)
P.S. I'm willing to trade...
I am also on TEG and am excited to be part of the bean network this year :-). C'mon I know someone has some heirlooms to add or is looking for something new.
Eggs. Not all of us have the ability to have enough chickens to supply us with plenty of eggs. I'm only allowed three in town and have a dozen whole eggs in my freezer. Once I can get my hands on an honest to Goddess dehydrator (been using a new wave oven) I can scramble up some eggs and...
Help me end a debate with DH. We've been needing to cycle out our homemade MREs but he wants to find a better alternative to Ramen noodles.
The basic list of stuff in the MREs:
Whole package of random ramens
Instant oatmeal pack
Small pack of dried veggie
Small pack of dried fruit
Vaccum sealed...
