Icu4dzs, I KNOW what you mean about the price of food not changing. I am NOT a farmer, but as a horse owner, and a 5 acre "farmette" owner for the past ten years, I know a lot of farmers, my property is surrounded by farm fields, and I've seen the price of corn, oats, hay and straw pretty much...
We all know that dandelion leaves are edible, but I have a gardening book from the early 1970's that has a small section on growing them in your garden.
I agree. I have a friend who lets me pick from his Bartlett trees, but I do that in October.
Did some canning not too long ago. I just peeled them, diced them and canned in sugar in 1/2 pints. They made great snacks and I also cooked with them--all gone now. :D
You need to post some pics. If your rabbit is wild, let it go. It won't live long in captivity and you'll get to watch it die trying to escape.
If your rabbit is domestic, feed rabbit pelleted feed, provide fresh water, do NOT use cedar shavings--pine is best, stall dry is great, too--give...
Farmfresh and DianneS--read your lists expecting EVERYTHING but you both forgot two wintertime items: lockthaw (for frozen locks) and windshield de-icer. I like the idea of the rags--have to remember that--I have LOTS of those at home.
Also, my neighbor showed me that you can use...
Absolutely! WE'VE lived in Champaign County, where the University of Illinois is, since 1982 and even in the recession(s) undergrads ROUTINELY dump their "unwantables" inside and outside of their apartments/rented houses at the end of the Spring Semester.
My FRUGEL middle daughter brought home...
:yuckyuck
Love it!! I can do the SAME thing--AND, I used to be totally ADDICTED to tetris. I had to quit cold-turkey, so the dishwasher is the only place I can still play it. :gig
I have quite a collection of jars from people who toyed with canning, then gave it up. "Window Shop" all of the aisles at the stores that you already buy things from, so you know their inventories. IF canning is not something they specialize in, and they don't sell, the cans will be one of the...
I wish YOU lived at my house!! Unfortunately, the other 3 people in the household are not motivated to wash pots and pans, and I have to finish farm (animal) chores when I still have light, so, MANY TIMES, they don't get washed immediately. It DOES happen on holidays, because I round...
That's how WE do it, too. You need to bear in mine WHAT you are washing, too. I use a portable dishwasher--that just means it is not built in, and has to be hooked up to the kitchen faucet. It's hard to measure HOW MUCH water you use when you hand wash, but I know that the faucet tends to run...
Great Thread!!! My DD's are ALL adults--(with their May birthdays, NEXT month they will be) 22, 27 and 30 years old. They are ALL gainfully employed. They all worked part time since they were 16, while working on their Bachelor's, including youngest DD, who graduates from the University of...
Plastic garbage bags will work, too--they kept my tomatoes alive when I put them in the ground last year in April. Even the black ones will work, but if they're opaque you could leave them on until the "all clear" sounds.
