Trying to decide on a dehydrator

Thank you for the input. The few years that I have been really researching it that is what I kept coming up with. When my kids were little I had a round one. I didn't use it much because you had to keep turning and repositioning things so they would dry uniformly. And it was SUCH a hassle to...

I have a meat slicer! ... Now what?

We are planning to get one this year. I didn't ever think about slicing bread; I didn't know you could. We go through 2-3 loaves a week! I thought I could only use one for meats and cheeses. Any suggestions on specific things to look for? We would be using it at least once a day if not more...

    Homemade Easter Treats

We made cadbury cream eggs; peanut butter eggs; coconut eggs and caramel truffels. I usually also make chocolate eggs with raspberry truffel filling in blown colored egg shells but we did not want to make those this year. I use the peanut butter and coconut for candies throughout the year. Monica

Decision time....what to use to build fence around garden??

In our temp. garden we had stakes with chicken wire. When designing our future garden based on what we learned; we decided on 4" 'peeler' posts with 'no-climb' wire fencing with chicken wire on the inside. The no climb will also make for study trellis for climbing plants. Monica

What tool(s) or machinery make you more self sufficient?

SK-I agree !! Our best tool is our Kubota. DH is always surprising me with the things he does with it. It is just a small one with a backhoe, bucket and box scraper (I think that's what it's called). DGDand I used to use it a lot also. Otherwise our log splitter and many electric and hand...
