I read your comment and was about to say that my son was born in 1991. And he's a tall, overly nourished man at 34 years old. That seems like a LONG time ago!!
I casually deboned two turkeys, which cost about $14 for 37.15 lbs.
I got 6 quarts mixed with white and dark meat, four of which are processing in my Carey auto pressure canner.
I've got two crockpots going until tomorrow morning, and I still have the back and breast bone for the 3rd crockpot...
I'm going to can up two turkeys. They were 39 cents per lb here at Safeway. I donated four of them to the food bank where I volunteer. They were a little over $4 and $5 for each!!!!!!
We are having two Rana brand individual lasagnas, that I took out of the trash last Thursday at the fb. They were still frozen, but they had some coffee grounds on them (incoming from Safeway) and the guy at the fb tossed them. Not something I normally buy, but heck fire. Free is good.
See that ear? Its about 7-8" long. My friends hubs got a special elk tag, and it took two weeks to find this bull. He saved those hooves, cus one of them has hoof rot. He'll turn them in and get put in a drawing for a special tag again next year. They are trying to track hoof rot.
If any of you shop at Kroger (or their other stores, like my Fred Meyer), the checker told me that every Tuesday, only in November, will be senior discount day. Normally its just the first Tuesday of the month. Check your local Kroger owned brand to see if they are doing this.
Don't even get me started with the certain immigrants who show up in their Tesla's, then argue they didn't get enough. Or have their Prada purses over their shoulder driving a Range Rover. Or try to hide the haul they have already gotten from another pantry, when they pull up to ours.

Monday, I got informed that we are making changes at the food bank where I volunteer. Starting in November, I'm to watch addresses (I'm the computer gal and I get their names in the car lineup). If they have other than our local small suburbs addresses (Battle Ground, Brush Prairie, Amboy...
I'm a Master Food Preserver, and I would never ever can the way my Mother did. There are so many new organisms nowadays present in food that using old methods will NOT get them denatured, killed, etc.
Just look at all the food manufacturers recalls these last 15 or so years.
Not to mention...
Tell your wife that dates on products are not the law - not Federal or USDA or state.... They were originally put there to help grocers manage their inventory. And that most manuf post dates about 2 years out, in general. The food, of course, last alot longer.
I'm finishing up my 2023 items...
I have a year's worth of coffee in the basement. We are not fussy about our coffee, especially since hubs and son enjoy a little coffee in their vanilla oat based creamer. Me? I'm a black coffee person, and only have one cup after my morning tea.
Coffee prices for retail packages are up 21%...
I made sheet pan chicken. Three large breasts chunked up, marinating in teriyaki all day, with four huge yellow potatoes and a bunch of veggies on top. YUMMY!
