Did anyone see the new True Blood show that was premiered yesterday (Sunday)? I thought it was quite good. The new vampire teenager that Bill has on his hands looks to be a good story line. I'm not very happy where Lafayette is now. That's enough spoilers, I guess.:p Tell me how you liked it.
I don't know if any of you East coast kids got a taste of this West coast kid's TV icon, Engineer Bill. He passed away last Sept at 97, and many of us who just found out are in a tad bit of mourning. Anyone have any Engineer Bill memories?
It's a really good cook book I picked up at the Library. I've copied macaroni salad, taco dip, and buttermilk chocolate cake recipes.
The most interesting recipe I'm bringing to a potluck tomorrow. It's called broccoli cornbread. You take a cornbread mix and add eggs, cottage cheese, and a box...
Anyone looking forward to Angels and Demons?
I read the book ages ago, but I remember it being a good story.
We really enjoyed the Da Vinci Code. Didn't know that Tom Hanks was up to such a physically demanding role. I think hubby's just a little disappointed that Sophie Marceau isn't in this...
My husband, who is very into all things Abraham Lincoln, found a DVD that was only a couple of dollars.
The casting was bizarre. The actor playing Lincoln was Sam Waterston (the lawyer in Law and Order), and Mary Lincoln was being played by Mary Tyler Moore!
This is the most bizarre casting...
Has anyone tried cooking or baking with stevia? I was talking to a friend who doesn't eat sugar or gluten, and she was all excited about trying stevia, mainly with baking. She said that it really messes with the texture, as you use so little and the stevia is more like powdered sugar than...
My husband told me a good one he found on BeliefNet this morning:
Jesus was out walking near the Gates of Heaven when he heard a frail old man calling, "Hello? Hello?"
Jesus answers, "Who is it?"
"Just an old carpenter searching for my son."
Jesus' heart leaped. He called back, "Joseph?"
The...
Our parish is having a spaghetti dinner/bake sale quite soon. I usually bring a couple of banana cashew loaves, and whatever kind of cookie I have the ingredients for (if I make chocolate chip there's never enough left for a bake sale!).
How about sharing some yummy bake sale goodies recipes...
Do you enjoy sitting on the sand or standing on a cliff and just looking at the beautiful ocean? Or, are you the type who just has to jump in and ride the waves or have a good old swim?
The Bay Street Grill is located on scenic Bay Street, in a section called "Old Town", is our fave local restaurant.
The staff is efficient and friendly, the decor is top-notch with great old wooden floors and booths, alot of old prints and metal-work decorations on the wall, and a cozy...
It's a given that a large bulk of your hours are spent working and devoting yourself to family interaction. It's in the remaining hours that you enjoy your leisure activities. Within the context of that leisure time, how do you apportion your hours? On a weekly basis, how many hours woodworking...
How would you like your Mother-In-Law to live with you?
That's what is happening in the Obama household: Michelle's mom is coming to live at the White House, to help take care of the girls. I think it's a wise idea; I had my grandma living in my parents' house as a young girl, and I think it did...
Milk was a wonderful movie; I mean I expected alot with Sean Penn starring and Gus van Sant directing. I was not disappointed! It was better than I imagined it would be.
Sean Penn is one of the best actors ever, IMHO. A minimal amount of makeup, a change of hair, and he bloody becomes someone...
I'm not sure if I'm spelling it correctly. Where we live there are lots of burlwood items, coffee tables and bowls especially. They're quite pretty. Anybody know anything about them?
Before we know it, Easter (or whatever you call your Spring Festival) will be upon us. Does your family do a big picnic (weather permitting, of course), potlucks, egg hunts, etc? What are you going to be doing to usher in Springtime?
In the last couple of years, HBO has been putting out some excellent shows, in my opinion. Entourage (maybe it's jumped the shark, not sure), Big Love, True Blood, and the new Eastbound and Down are really well-written and you want to see the next one, to see what happens. Anybody share my...
