I like those large wooden chairs you see on porches that are called Adirondack or Muskoka chairs. I think that would be a great project.
Has anybody here made one of those?
I have an "iron wood" walking stick that was bought in Jamaica. It has an interesting grain to it and it's very heavy.
Has anybody here seen this kind of wood or used it in a project?
Is anybody else here still watching an old bulky TV instead of a newer flat screen TV?
I have a flat screen computer monitor that's also a TV, but the other TVs in the place are the old kind and they're still hanging in there.
I'm looking forward to getting a larger flat screen model, but...
I guess they're pretty much just antiques now, but have you ever used a hand drill on wood?
When I was a kid there were some around our place, and I'm sure I used them. I find it very nostalgic to see some of those old tools now.
Do you think that wainscoting is less popular now than it was a few years ago?
It seems to me that I'm seeing less of it done these days, but I still like it if it's done well.
Does anybody else here get into watching TV seasons on DVD?
We have X Files, 24, Dark Angel and Titus to name a few. I think it's a great activity if you're cocooning, staying in to conserve money... Especially if you got a great deal on the season.
We've bought entire seasons for $20 or less.
I've never tried it, but has anyone here cooked salmon on a cedar plank?
I understand that you need to soak the plank first. I wouldn't mind trying it sometime - Our local grocery store always seems to have the planks in stock.
Has anyone here ever made a hockey stick?
I think that would be a very interesting project, especially a goalie stick.
The closest I've ever come to that was gluing the blade back onto my road hockey stick. It lasted indefinitely.
I guess that's a whole other topic, but has anyone here done anything with musical instruments?
When I was a teenager, I sanded down a solid body electric guitar then took it to a furniture place for a satin finish.
I wouldn't do that now, but the finish matches the maple neck perfectly and I...
Does anybody here remember a quirky television series called Wonderfalls?
It was on a few years ago, and didn't even air all of its episodes before being pulled.
It was about a girl who worked in a souvenir store in Niagara Falls that was built over a First Nation burial ground. Inanimate...
I have a project coming up and I was wondering how much it would cost to rent a router as opposed to buying one?
I have a feeling that there may not be as much difference in the cost of the two different approaches as there was a few years ago.
Hi. I've done renovations on the two homes we've lived in and I'm planning a couple more projects in the next while.
I'm looking forward to getting some tips and sharing any information I have that would be of interest.
