I haven't seen the show, but from the way you describe it I think they may go a bit far for my tastes. I realize many people will want to better their appearance with plastic surgery or cosmetic dentistry, but in many cases I think too much emphasis is placed on the appearance of a person.

I think appropriate shelter should be a first concern, followed by food and health care. But I think it's a very complex problem and it will be challenging. I hadn't heard of the tent city before.

Walking through a neighborhood that you enjoy is also a plus. You can observe the progress of gardens or landscaping projects, and maybe get to know some of the people and pets too. I especially like walking through the area when there are seasonal decorations up.

Speaking of Batman, is anyone here familiar with the TV series from the 60s starring Adam West? I loved that when I was a kid and it was pretty campy - Sort of a different experience than most of the current superhero stories now.

I think I'll be doing some research before I get the next generation. I'm not clear of plasma vs. LCD, etc. I have noticed some "bleeding" of colors on a large screen TV, but I'm not sure if that's from the TV or the transmission.

We have an exercise room and pool in our condo complex, but we don't use them very much. We're more likely to go for walks, especially in nice weather.

I've had another interesting salad that started with romaine lettuce. You added mayo or coleslaw dressing, mandarin orange segments and roasted pine nuts. I like that as a summer salad.

I don't regularly watch cartoons, but I do watch animated movies like the Shrek series and Ice Age. I would get into some of the old Looney Tunes, for the nostalgic value. Some of them had fairly involved references, using classical music for example.

I think Survivor was probably the best of them that I've seen. I remember when it first came on, everybody was talking about it and I watched it for a while. I was impressed with some of the changes to the game that were made. I thought that made it more interesting.

I'd add that while I'm on the lookout for good deals, I've been more cautious in the dollar stores after hearing of some products that had issues. I pay more attention to where the food comes from and where it's processed. I'm more likely to buy recognizable brands there now.
