No More Zicam: It should be a warning...

I had to laugh. The push toward "natural" remedies has really gotten out of hand, and I bet his won't be the last time we hear about side effects.

    Kung Fu's David Carradine Dead

I have a feeling that a lot more people live through autoerotic asphyxiation, than die from it. I just hope they get to the bottom of what really happened.

    Roadside Stands!

There are no road stands where I live, but there are Farmers' Markets. I plan to frequent them this year.

    Shelving with a twist...

We want to build some wood shelves for our living room. The only difference between what we want and regular shelves is that we want them supported by cables, like those used to hang pictures in galleries, instead of wall brackets. Has anyone seen plans for cable supported shelves?

We're going to see it again....

We saw the Star Trek movie, last week, and have decided that we absolutely have to see it a second time, in the theater. If we can find it at an IMAX theater we might even spring for the $16.00 per head price tag to see it on the IMAX screen, as long as we don't have to attend a midnight...

    My stress management resolution..

I imagine that most people who identify themselves as independents also shun political affiliation in favor of seeing the world through their own eyes while focusing on their own quality issues. I have a feeling that the herd of zombies is growing smaller every day!

    Rising Utility Costs... Why NOW?!

The timing is really interesting. Raising the prices when the weather is getting warmer hides the impact you will feel when days grow shorter, and colder, again in the fall and winter. Sneaky little devils, aren't they?

    Very strange casting

I heard something that seems even stranger. I heard that Leonardo Di Caprio is on board to play Frank Sinatra in a biographical movie. I just don't think Leo has a high enough "cool quotient" to pull it off!

    Summer Meals

Potato salad is one of my biggest summer weaknesses. We like to have a lot of spinach salads and finger foods during the summer months. When we can avoid cooking, we do!

What's the First Thing You'd Give Up?

I don't think we have much left that we can afford to give up. I buy clothing less often but we have to have the internet access because I work online some, and we need that money for bills. In pinch we might drop back to basic cable tv, but then we'd probably end up spending the savings from...

    Harry Potter at Last

was excited about the very first "Harry Potter", just as I was for the very first "Lord of The Rings" movies. Once I have seen the special affects and have an idea how the story lines will develop, I lose interest. I am sure I will hear all about the next HP from the neighbor's kids, though!

    What Should I Bring?

I try to take desserts that have no chocolate, to pot lucks and picnics. I can't remember the thousands of times I coudln't have dessert because no one thought about those of us who are allergic to chocolate. Lemon bars are always good! LOL

    My stress management resolution..

I figured that I would make a New Years resolution now to avoid the crunch later this year. I am going to stock up on Nerf balls. This way, I have something to throw at a television when it gets on my nerves. Why hasn't anyone come out with Nerf shoes to throw at the tv when politicians are on?

    Health care reform?

The problem I see with preventative medicine and HMO's is that they really don't fix anything. With an HMO, they aren't going to treat a problem if they can avoid it. They maintain your health were it is, but do nothing that might improve your quality of life. Preventative medicine tend to...

    Baking with Stevia?

Substituting Stevia for just about any sugar works well, as long as there is something else in the recipe that is also naturally sweet. Have you tried looking at Stevia.com?

    Families and the Mortgage Crises

I've noticed that it tends to be easier for people to leave their homeland and move to the USA, than it is for the average U.S. Citizen to leave for another country. It's a financial thing, by the way, and not a comfort thing.

Hey Moms! What Will You Do?

ally have a quiet day. My first born died on Mother's Day, 1974 so it has been my practice to find other things to think about, and avoid Mother's Day celebrations altogether.

    Too Much News?

I have to limit the amount of news I watch, these days. My irritation over obvious stupidity is probably raising my blood pressure.

    Baking with Stevia?

I haven't tried baking with it yet, but I have tried Stevia/Truvia in coffee and cereal. The only time I can taste its sweetness is if I lick the granules from my bare finger. It's not nearly as sweet as all the hype would have us believe, IMHO.

    What would you make?

I wonder how difficult it would be to make wooden herb grinders? They'd be just like those pepper grinders and they could have the name of the herb they grind on the side. You could stock each grinder with a dried herb from your garden. That might be something nice, and special, to have in a...
