Yum, For my first attempt I browned the rabbit and then baked with onion,garlic and tomatoes. It was ok. Think I might try something in the dutch oven when we go camping.
Has it really been a year since I last posted here? The squirrel turned out to be female. We move her outside a few months back. We have also had two more sets of goat babies since this last picture and our rabbits have finally started getting things right.
We had 2 babies born yesterday.A boy named Luke and a girl named Leia. We did not know mamma was expecting. My clue was when I saw a discharge. Luke was born first with no problem. I had to help mama with Leia. She presented head first no feet. Thankfully she is fine. Luke is the brown one.

Good thoughts sumi. Maybe it would be better to rely on animal fats from a self sustaining point of view.? My goal is to make things at home and not be dependent on outside sources as much as possible. So far the animals we raise are not a good source for fats. :idunno so my search continues.
