I hear you and see you, Ldychef2K. Its blowing like a fiend here, and we just had hail. Small ones. Water is running everywhere.

Fences are expensive. Our insurance didn't cover them, when we had some blow over during our 17 yrs in San Jose. Propping up with sticks is the best way to go, after the storm passes, but b4 the next big one on Wed.

That tree is a fruitless mullberry. Its quite common in suburban areas to stub them back every year or other year. They grow like weeds. So they provide just about instant shade. I just bought a 15 gal one, and WILL NOT be stubbing it back cus I want it HUGE!

"At 3:45 PM Doppler radar detected a couple of areas of thunderstorms...one over the motherlode that stretched from Calaveras southwest to just east of Copper Cove Village. Another area of thunderstorms in the East Bay will move to near Tracy and over Stockton between 4 and 4:30 PM. Expect brief heavy rain...small hail and gusty winds with dangerous cloud to ground lightning as these thunderstorms move through the area. Thunderstorms will move rapidly to the northeast this afternoon. More thunderstorms are likely to develop into the evening hours."

Woo hoo! Thunder and lightening! Something that rarely rarely happened in San Jose. Its so exciting to see and hear. (say that when we lose electricity....lost it four times in 5 months here, and no generator)

Well, I called the insurance and I know they cover it because this is the second time I have had this kind of claim. my son-in-law came over and he knows that we can stand the north fence back up and stabilize it, but the front one is a goner. It was rotted at the base already. Anyway, I am supposed to hear from the insurance adjuster wihin 24 hours. I have a $500 deductible, which makes me gulp a bit, but if it is more than that, then my son-in-law says we can use whatever money comes in and do the work ourselves.

My parents (80's) took it harder than I did. For me, life is full of these kinds of adventures. If they didn't happen, what would I do for entertainment!

Thanks all for your support. I moved all my plants in to the lawn portion of the yard, which is behind a locked chain link fence.

This is one of those moments we were discussing when we look at what we have and realize how crappy it looks!!!!
