Andrea James definitely has a way with words and her blog about her family farm is a wonderful read. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Freedom is indeed a precious thing. It is a fragile idea; one persons freedom is anothers discomfort. It seems that we, as Americans, are like the wild bunny in my sons hands. We are moving toward the safety of a hutch were we will be fed and cared for and kept safe from all harm. A place where all of our basic needs will be met; we will be warm and dry, sheltered from the storms outside; we will not starve nor want for anything, except our freedom.

Bit by bit and piece by piece, our freedom is being taken away. Of course it is in our best interest. We are being kept safe from harm.
Fitting, considering the other current threads here.

The nice thing is we all have a choice. Nobody is forcing anybody into the cage with all the comforts. Some members of society need the cage to live in. Remember it is the cage. There is a price to pay for the people that receive entitlements. There was a post with people that were forced to accept welfare or some other form of handout. The price is the loss of pride and self worth. The inconvenience of standing in line and being treated in a disrespectful manner. I've never used food stamps but some of our foster children were entitled to WIC which is a form of food stamps. We live in a nice area and the looks other people give you when you use a govt coupon to pay for your food. So unless your one of the people that are in need the cage concept doesn't apply to you. Be happy that it is there if you ever need it.

A society without compassion is not a society.

I guess I was referring to food "safety" legislation.
