Wish I could join you but I already have a major purchase planned for January. I am getting a new kitchen sink. Maybe in February.

I rarely buy anything new. So it wouldn't be much of a challenge for me.
But then I also have Goodwill Outlet nearby and a neighbor who has a Second Hand business, where I can get most anything he has for free or barter. I also don't go anywhere. I also have no money, so I can't spend it.

I think it is a good excercise though. It is amazing what people feel neccessary to buy on a regular basis, myself included. Now I dislike shopping more than ever. Only rarely do I wish I could just go out and buy something. Most of the time I enjoy the challenge of making do.

Hi Tortoise!!!:frow

I just saw your post on BubBs journal, but I didn't want to hijack hers. I was glad to see you posting! I actually bought something new last night -- well 3 new things to be exact! Which doesn't happen often -- as in not for many months sometimes. But it made me think of you -- and then I realized I don't think I've seen you post lately and got a little concerned. Maybe I just missed you which is totally possible -- I've not been on SS much this week and that mostly on my journal.

Glad to see you, is all I wanted to say. :)

And in my defense -- Wal-mart was clearancing out some fairly nice pet things. My vet budget was $50, and it cost me only $44 for vet + prescription, so that's how I justified it. A nice hard rubber toy with great texture actually BIG ENOUGH for my huge puppy - just $1.50. I wish I could have bought all 3 or 4 they had left! And a loofa and feather chew toy for my kitty, since she really doesn't need to be encouraged to run. Also $1.50. And a shedding blade for the pup, since he's going to be blowing some MAJOR undercoat soon, and it was less than $4. I saw one at a thrift store a few months ago that was poorly made and they had wanted more for. So I went less than $1 over budget, and it was worth it to me to have a rare splurge. Spent on my pets, LOL. Oh well. :)

But it's good to see you around. :)

I'm around. :) I've been neglecting my blog and challenge. It is too hard to buy only "made in USA"!
