Some years ago my wife and I made some end tables for our family room. With grandchildren visiting these we worry that these table will become damaged. I want to add glass tops, but I worry about the glass sliding off. Is there a product out there, which stops glass from sliding off the top of tables?

They make little suction pieces that will hold the glass in place, but you might want to re-think using glass to protect the wood finish. Little fingers and glass can be a real mess. I know this because my wife has a bottle of Windex permanently attached to her left hip thanks to our two year old and a glass top kitchen table. :)

I agree about rethinking a glass top table. Our dining room table is all glass, and I'd replace it in a minute if my wife would let me. We spent far too much on it. It's mahogany and Chippendale and beautiful, but it always has spots on it, no matter how much Windex and cleaner we use. It picks up scratches easily, too.

Yes, those are certainly hard to clean! I recently swapped out our glass topped coffee table for one with a wooden top. Glass can be very elegant but it takes more effort to keep it looking pristine.

Little fingers do make a mess of glass tops; however, the glass tops do protect the wood finish of tables. I recently added glass tops to our coffee table as it is an antique and we have already had several spills. I used the little suction cups that Rae mentioned and I am nicely satisfied with the job.
