I loved that show! I think it inspired my parents in the 70's to mover from LA to the country and live that life.

Anyway, the show was hilarious, and I hope to own the whole series on DVD some day. And I sometimes feel like the Goods as I sneak my chickens and veggies into my city lot. No generators run on manure though!

If you've never seen it, I highly recommend trying to find it at your library or online. Great show.

I can't remember that show but I probably watched it... in England. My parents were stationed there from my 1st grade until 6th grade (when my parents divorced and I moved to the US). One of my favorite shows was always "Are You Being Served?"

I love that our local library carries many of the BBC television shows on dvd..... Good Neighbors, Are You Being Served, As Time Goes By, Rosemary & Thyme, Keeping Up Appearances, Doctor Who, Vicar of Dibley..... great watching during snowy, cold winters when the garden work is minimal, if there is any at all.

I have a recipe for pea pod wine... :gig

Yes I love it still!
I requested it through my library and watched the entire series last winter. In the 70's there was such a "back to the land" movement in many industrialized countries that the series was able to showcase nearly everything that was being tried.

A friend and I were in Great Britain at the time and toured a facility in Wales that was about alternative energy. They had taken an old gravel and slate quarry devoid of any soil and through methods seen on the show grew very productive gardens.

Good Neighbors had a top notch cast, great researchers and comedic writers! What a gem for SS folks now, if you can find it.

I just picked up the DVD set. I used to watch it on broadcast tv. I love that show. It's so funny seeing the uptight neighborlady reacting to their various attempts at self-sufficiency. And the "threatening the chicken" episode totally cracked me up!

I love that show! It was called "The Good Life" in the UK. We have the series on DVD. We call each other Tom and Barbara at times.
