Was wondering if anyone has used the Dash Diet to lower hypertension. If so, the positives and negatives. Did it work??

Trying to adjust the diet before going on meds because once on meds . . .

Thank you

Negatives....
Uses low fat dairy (very unhealthy)

Calls for a lot of grains (grains are high in carbs. Carbs RAISE blood pressure)

Calls for as many fruits as veggies. Fruits can raise blood pressure.

Eliminates healthy, natural saturated fat (your body evolved to primarily run on these fats). Also lumps fats and sweets in to the same category. Since these effect the body in completely different manners, this is insane.

Says to eat less red meat.

Positives...
Calls for eating more veggies
Calls for fewer processed foods

I lowered my blood pressure from 149/95 to 101/62 by eliminating excess carbohydrates from my diet. I keep my carb intake around 50g per day. I get most of my carbs from veggies plus there are a few in meats, eggs and full fat dairy. Fruits are eaten occasionally as a treat.
